Test Bench: Volt Loudspeakers VM527 Midrange

Voice Coil magazine welcomed Volt Loudspeakers UK to Test Bench in this edition! The driver tested this month was the hot-off-the-production-line new 2” midrange dome, the VM527. The VM527’s features include a coated single piece fabric dome/surround, FEA-designed ferrite motor structure, a 52 mm diameter voice coil, short flare horn built into the rear mounted faceplate, a 91 dB sensitivity, and 75 W (AES) rated power handling. This Test Bench is about Celestion's CDX1-1447 1” ferrite motor compression driver coupled with Celestion’s H1-7050 ‘No Bell’ 70° × 50° horn. Features for the CDX1-1447 include a one piece polyimide diaphragm and surround, with an exit (throat) diameter of 25.4 mm (1.0”). The horn is a new and rather innovative design. The H1-7050 “No Bell” is a cast-aluminum exponential flare-type horn with a 70° × 50° radiation pattern. This article was originally published in Voice Coil, March 2017.

LaVoce continues to extend its product catalog now introducing a new 15” high performance low-frequency ferrite driver WAF154.00, entirely designed in Italy with Finite Elements Modeling and Analysis methods. Featuring 1500 W AES power handling and high mechanical excursion, the transducer delivers 97 dB Sensitivity with really limited harmonic distortion.
