ELAC Announces Solano Line of Affordable Home Speakers

ELAC announced availability in North America of the brand's new Solano line of premium home speakers. These new models are a perfect solution for both 2-channel music enthusiasts or home theater configurations. With three affordable models, the ELAC Solano series includes the attractive BS 283 bookshelf, the attention-grabbing FS 287 floorstander, and the CC 281 center-speaker, all simple rectangular-shaped speakers, made with solid MDF, and paired with a slightly curved, large front baffle, that delivers an attractive look and feel.

Following last year's evolution of the (former) European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) to the new (global) acronym Expert Imaging & Sound Association, coinciding with the admission of new members from all over the world, including the United States, the traditional winners of its 2019-2020 Awards have been announced. As always, audioXpress highlights all the audio-related winers in the Hi-Fi, Home Theatre Audio, In-Car and Mobile Devices categories. And there are a few surprises!

The 2018 High End show promised to be the best one ever, in part because of the most pleasant weather conditions experienced in Munich - almost summer like - turning the Bavarian region into a tourist postcard and making any outing a true pleasure and the entire experience of beer and German food even more enjoyable, particularly in the fantastic nearby Englischer Garten esplanades and restaurants.

An established annual tradition for more than 30 years, the prestigious European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) Awards, featuring more than 20 products in different audio categories, have been announced. Harman, Bluesound, Bowers & Wilkins, Chord, ELAC, Hegel, Marantz, Naim Audio, Pro-Ject, Sonos, Canton, DALI, Denon, Monitor Audio, Panasonic, Trinnov and Yamaha among the winners in Hi-Fi, mobile and home-theater categories. Winners for 2016-2017 will receive the awards at IFA Berlin 2016.

Recently I attended the excellent, The Home Entertainment (T.H.E.) Show in Newport, CA. Celebrating its 6th anniversary, and still mourning the tragic loss of its president and founder, Richard Beers, T.H.E. Show Newport exceeded its own 2015 attendance figures, with more than 10,000 attendees. I left with excellent memories of a wonderful organization, a very pleasant location (Irvine), and the motivation to return. Some excellent systems left me with enduring impressions that I thought fit to share in this space.
