Steinberg Introduces Nuendo 11 with New Tools for Dolby Atmos Mixes and AI-Powered Intelligibility Meter

First revealed in November 2020, Steinberg announced the immediate availability of its much-anticipated premium media production software, Nuendo 11, now adding Audio Definition Model (ADM) authoring file support for Dolby Atmos mixes, Netflix Loudness Meter, plus many other features and workflow enhancements. The latest Nuendo is a more complete professional audio production tool for media content creation, including a new Intelligibility Meter, based on algorithms developed by the Fraunhofer Institute.

Dolby Laboratories released findings from a new global survey illustrating a significant shift in consumer entertainment behavior. Findings include new ways of interacting with friends and family while enjoying entertainment, and insights that people are investing more in their home entertainment, looking for enhanced picture or sound quality. From this survey, it remains clear that consumers continue to want, demand, and are willing to spend more on enhanced experiences, now more than ever.

CEVA announced support for latest Dolby MS12 Multistream Decoder on the CEVA-BX2 audio DSP. The integration provides System-on-Chip (SoC) designers and device manufacturers with a low power, rapid time-to-market solution that will enable complete support for Dolby's latest family of formats and audio codecs, including Dolby Atmos, Dolby AC-4, and Dolby Audio. This makes the CEVA-BX2 an ideal solution for new Smart TVs, soundbars and more designs, benefiting of all the included audio DSP features, such as far-field noise reduction and AI speech recognition.

Dolby Laboratories announced a new Dolby Voice Huddle, a conferencing solution designed specifically to address the challenges of video meetings in smaller – and often custom – spaces. This compact solution features Dolby intelligent acoustic technology which calibrates based on the TV and room space to deliver optimum audio quality without the need for additional speakers and soundbars. Dolby Voice Huddle joins the previously released Dolby Voice Room and Dolby Voice Room Pro solutions to complete the Rooms with Dolby Voice video conferencing product portfolio.

Tidal members subscribing to the Tidal HiFi tier, with compatible Android smartphones or tablets, now have access to a growing library of music available in Dolby Atmos from Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group. This currently includes tracks from some of the world’s biggest artists such as Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, Blondie, and more. Tidal is also working closely with its artist-owners, including Jay-Z, to mix their catalogs in Dolby Atmos – which are expected to become available in 2020.
