Waves Audio Awarded with Engineering, Science & Technology Emmy for Voice Cleaning Engine

The Television Academy announced the recipients of the 75th Engineering, Science & Technology Emmy Awards honoring an individual, company or organization for developments in broadcast technology. Waves was one of the companies distinguished this year with an Emmy for an audio product or technology, in this case for the Clarity Vx Pro noise-reduction plugin that uses a Neural Networks engine developed by Waves to separate dialog from ambience at the highest quality.

SoundFun, a Japanese startup focused on designing assistive listening products for seniors will present its new MIRAI curved speaker concept at CES 2023. The design uses a curved frame with an internal waveguide that generates a particular sound dispersion. The company says the MIRAI speaker makes it easier for people with hearing loss to hear critical sources such as TV dialogue. SoundFun will be part of the Japan Pavilion @Eureka Park.

Among the many announcements of more hardware purposely designed for broadcast and content production operations, at the NAB 2022 Show in Las Vegas, German company Lynx Technik AG unveiled a new hardware module in its renowned yellobrik series, that features Artificial Intelligence from Audionamix. The IDC (Instant Dialog Cleaner) 1411 yellobrik module was designed for operations with serial digital video signals, and incorporates the AI technology from Audionamix for effective noise removal directly in the signal flow.

Dolby Laboratories announced Dolby.io, an API platform that gives developers access to APIs designed to improve the quality of the media and communications within their applications. According to Dolby, the platform offers tools to enhance every interaction and quality of content in new apps and services. The interactivity APIs focus on real-time voice and video collaboration, and the Media Processing APIs focus on audio/video content enhancement and analysis.

McDSP, the software house responsible for of an incredible number of audio processing plug-ins, now announced the release of the NR800 real-time noise reduction processor. This latest plug-in from McDSP is useful for music production, post production, and even live sound since it operates with no internal latency, and doesn’t contaminate the original source material with artifacts such as those found by other noise reduction plug-ins that utilize transform-based processing.
