WiSA Technologies Changes Name to Datavault and Acquires Company That Manages Registration for CES, InfoComm, and NAB Trade Shows

WiSA Technologies, the company that makes the most important wireless audio multichannel technology for home cinema, recently bought and merged with Datavault, a blockchain data intelligence business, and announced that WISA will be called Datavault in the future. Now, WISA acquired CompuSystems, the company that provides registration and lead management for more than 250 trade shows including CES.

WiSA Technologies announced that it has executed a definitive asset purchase agreement of select intellectual property and information technology assets from Data Vault Holdings, a privately held company, for $210 million in shares of common stock of WiSA Technologies. WiSA Technologies acquires the High-Performance Computing (HPC) Software and Acoustic Technologies IP from Data Vault Holdings and intends to change its name to Datavault Inc.

Volareo, a different type of smart speaker, launched on crowdfunding site Indiegogo. Starting from $99USD for the early bird special, Volareo is being introduced as “the 1st independent smart speaker supporting open source to integrate with blockchain streaming platforms,” “backed by blockchain technology and AI.” While that sequence of buzzwords doesn’t actually say much about what makes Volareo different, saying that it interfaces with platforms where artists are paid directly and immediately for their songs played, makes it much more interesting.

Three young South Korean entrepreneurs with a track record of successful tech startups have announced a second venture: Muzika. Co-founders Inseo Chung, Sangmin Heo, and Jangwon Lee previously launched Mapiacompany, a music technology platform. Muzika will incorporate blockchain technology to build a music sharing platform that envisions a revolutionary token economy for music that allows fans to engage directly in the production, distribution, and consumption of music.
