Solid State Logic 360° V1.6 Software Update Elevates DAW Integration

Solid State Logic (SSL) launched SSL 360° v1.6, a software update that enhances its range of studio hardware controllers and 360°-enabled plug-ins with key new features and workflows. The V1.6 update introduces several key new features, including increased DAW integration for VST3 DAWs, a MIDI CC Layer, customizable soft key colors, and follow selected track functionality for UF1. Additionally, there are supporting plug-in updates for 4K B, Channel Strip 2, Bus Compressor 2, and Meter.

The 155th AES Convention takes place as usual at the Jacob Javits Center, October 25–27, again co-located with the NAB Show New York. Avid Unveils New MBOX USB-C Desktop Interface for Music Production and Recording at Home

At the AES Show 2022 in New York City, Avid announced a new USB-C desktop audio interface that it named MBOX in reference to the many Mbox audio interfaces that helped make Pro Tools popular among whole generations of creative users. The 2022 MBOX Studio is a valuable hardware option for Pro Tools software, with a desktop format that makes it practical for home studios, podcasting and streaming applications. It's not a very refined design, it offers big knobs instead of faders, and Avid specifies it as "USB-C 2.0" which shows that they don't really care.

The 153rd AES New York 2022 Convention takes place as usual at the Jacob Javits Center, October 19–20, with pre-and post-show activities on the 18th and 21st, followed by an online component, October 26–27. The convention will be again co-located with the NAB Show New York

Barely recovered from a week in New York - at least in terms of catching up with the product announcements - I have left this year's Audio Engineering Society (AES) convention with the feeling that it was just too short. Expectations couldn't have been higher. The 143rd International AES Convention (October 18-21, 2017) was sharing the Jacob Javits Center with the NAB Show New York. So naturally increased attendance was a given, and there were many "synergetic" opportunities to discuss common themes, such as media over IP.
