Recently I attended the excellent, The Home Entertainment (T.H.E.) Show in Newport, CA. Celebrating its 6th anniversary, and still mourning the tragic loss of its president and founder, Richard Beers, T.H.E. Show Newport exceeded its own 2015 attendance figures, with more than 10,000 attendees. I left with excellent memories of a wonderful organization, a very pleasant location (Irvine), and the motivation to return. Some excellent systems left me with enduring impressions that I thought fit to share in this space.

Eclipse, the high-performance loudspeaker division within Fujitsu Ten, the multi-billion-dollar global technology giant, is promoting a high-performance ‘2.2’ audio system - two full-range speakers paired with two powered subwoofers - at T.H.E (The Home Entertainment) Show Newport, California. The company calls it “stereo with a difference” and a demonstration of the company’s accurate sound technology and unique ‘invisible loudspeaker’ concept.

Meridian Audio announced its new Ultra Digital to Analogue Converter, with considerable connectivity options, user features and format support. The Meridian Ultra is a 384kHz/24-bit dedicated DAC capable of playing virtually any recording format including DXD, DSD64 and DSD128 (DoP), and MQA. It incorporates Dual Mono DAC cards, DSP filter options, upsampling and apodizing. The world’s first public showing of the Meridian Ultra DAC will take place at the 2016 T.H.E. Show Newport, June 3-5.

Show Newport 2016, June 3-5, in room 1217, to create the first ever public audition of the next generation bookshelf from renowned designer Michael Kelly. The new Aerial Acoustics 5T shares the same curved cabinet construction, high gloss finish and the same 1” tweeter of the floorstanding Model 6T and Model 7T designs. Custom-made for the 5T is a new 6.7” long-stroke papyrus-blend driver.
