audioXpress December 2015: Tubes, Test and Measurement, Immersive Audio, and More…

It’s not that we’re saving the best for last, but audioXpress December 2015 includes some great articles on all the most current and interesting topics for the audio industry. There’s Auro-3D, two great reviews of measurement solutions, and lots of great DIY projects. And for those designing new audio products, there’s even an introduction to Audio Network Development.

Auro Technologies announced a partnership with Eleven Dimensions Media, who will be distributing the Auro-3D Creative Tool Suite through their reseller networks. The suite consists on a series of production tools, including 3D panning and mixing plug-ins, with support for all Auro-3D formats and various Surround formats, as well as encoding with the Auro-Codec.

Auro Technologies in cooperation with several partners demonstrated its immersive audio format at the 137th AES Convention in Los Angeles, showcasing Auro-3D recording, editing and play-back at various demo booths onsite. Fairlight also demonstrated its new immersive tools for audio at the AES, supporting Auro-3D, while Merging Technologies introduced its new 3D Panner, developed in collaboration with Auro Technologies.

Denon and Marantz announced a unique upgrade offer to bring three-dimensional audio format Auro-3D to their recently introduced Premium AV Receivers. Expected to be available in December, a firmware upgrade will further enhance the feature set of the highly-acclaimed Denon AVR-X5200W and the AVR-X4100W models and Marantz SR7009 and AV7702 receiver and pre-amp / processor.

Barco confirmed the acquisition of German company Iosono and the subsequent creation of Barco Audio Technologies. With Iosono’s team and expertise, the digital cinema and presentation technologies specialist from Belgium intends to further enhance the immersive sound experience in cinemas and events worldwide.
