HEDD Audio Unveils High End Version of its HEDDphone for Enthusiasts

It's called HEDDphone TWO GT and is the latest design from the Berlin-based manufacturer that surprised the professional market with its bold AMT headphones launched in 2019. Originally a large, heavy design, the HEDDphone was further refined in 2023 and is now transformed into a specific model that was custom tuned for headphone enthusiasts. The new open-back, over-ear design takes the latest full-range AMT driver with its multi-layered Kapton polyimide film and adds a lightweight magnesium chassis and carbon fiber headband.

HEDD Audio Announces HEDDphone TWO, Lighter and Refined AMT Headphones

HEDD Audio, the Berlin-based manufacturer of studio monitors and headphones, announced the launch of the successor to the original HEDDphone ONE Air Motion Transformer (AMT) headphones, introduced in 2019. The new HEDDphone TWO are powered by advances in AMT technology and informed by profound user feedback. The company calls it "a turbo-charged evolution." The open-back over-ear driver, headband and strap system were completely redesigned, resulting in a 25% weight reduction of the headphones to 550g in total.

The AMT 23CM1.1-C high-end Air Motion Transformer is the second model from the series launched by Mundorf. Following the explication of the U80W Mundorf AMT, published in the March 2022 issue of Voice Coil, Vance Dickason dives deeper into the series and proprietary diaphragm material used in all the Mundorf AMTs. Features for the Mundorf AMT 23CM1.1-C include a pleated AMT diaphragm, an optimized injection-molded rear chamber and flat round metal face plate, rated for 125W power handling with a minimum second-order 2.2kHz high-pass network. Test Bench: The U80W Air Motion Transformer from Mundorf

As a respected manufacturer of high-quality condensers and crossover components, Mundorf is also capitalizing on the industry's “renaissance” in AMTs and now offers five models in this updated U series, each driver having the same width, but different heights. The U80W AMT model features a 63mm x 19mm pleated proprietary AMT diaphragm, an optimized rear chamber, a flat face plate with an optional secondary aluminum face plate, and is rated for 80W power handling and 94dB sensitivity.
