SPL of Germany Releases New Phonitor se Headphone Amp with Optional AKM DAC

Sound Performance Lab, or SPL, the mysterious audio designer and manufacturer from Germany, has announced a new Phonitor se headphone amp, now shipping in two models, with and without an AKM DAC768xs D/A converter. The new model is an entry into the SPL Professional Fidelity Phonitor range and has the same audio signal amplification as its bigger brothers Phonitor x and Phonitor xe. The SPL line of products is distributed by Focal-Naim America in the US and Canada.

RME Audio introduced the HDSPe AIO Pro PCI Express interface digital audio card, the successor to its popular HDSPe AIO card. The Pro version provides professional users in recording studios and broadcast with the same high channel count as well as analog/digital input and output variety of the HDSPe AIO. In terms of technical features RME says that it has "completely reworked the HDSPe AIO Pro, defining the current state-of-the-art in PCI Express cards."

AKM Releases Low Latency 4-Channel A/D Converter for Automotive ANC Applications

Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation (AKM) has developed a new 4-channel A/D converter (ADC) targeting automotive applications. The AK5734 is a complementary solution for microphones, aiming at active noise control systems (ANC) and road noise control systems (RNC), which are increasingly being installed in vehicles. By combining with the previously released 6-channel ADC the AK5736, the system can accommodate various microphone channels. Besides ANC and RNC, AKM says the solution is ideal for the microphone input of a wide variety of in-vehicle systems.

AKM Proposes Two-Chip D/A Solution for High-End Audio Product Development

Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation (AKM) has expanded its lineup of premium audio Digital-to-Analog converters (DACs) with the development of a two-chip solution that separates the digital aspect from the analog. While conventional DACs use a single chip to convert signals from digital to analog, the new AKM approach splits the conversion process between the AK4191 delta-sigma modulator and the AK4498 DAC. This results in an improvement in sound quality that is easily perceptible while listening to music, the company states.

RME Updates ADI-2 DAC and RME Babyface Pro Interface with FS Models

German manufacturer RME Audio introduced improved "FS" versions of its ADI-2 DAC and RME Babyface Pro portable audio interface. FS stands for the improved SteadyClock FS, a new technology for synchronization and jitter suppression in digital audio signals using even more efficient filtering, and a design based on a super low jitter reference clock. The new ADI-2 Pro FS also introduces an AKM AK4493 PCM/DSD 768 kHz DAC converter, in a special circuit variant developed by RME engineers.
