Vicoustic Opens New Acoustic Solutions Factory Focused on Sustainability

July 9 2024, 09:10
Vicoustic, a leading global manufacturer of acoustic panels and an innovator in sustainable acoustic solutions, has recently opened its brand new manufacturing facility in Portugal. The new  purposely-built building will also host a new research and design center, streamlining its operations with a firm commitment to environmental responsibility, and innovation based on the use of recycled materials.

The new Vicoustic facility in Paços de Ferreira, Portugal - an important hub for furniture, wood and composite materials manufacturing, where many of its key suppliers are also based - is now one of the world's largest and most modern factories for first-approach acoustic treatment solutions. This cutting-edge factory significantly boosts the company's production capabilities, enabling the ongoing development and manufacture of eco-friendly acoustic panels and soundbooths made primarily from recycled materials. The new building complements Vicoustic's cutting-edge Research Center, inaugurated in 2012, alongside the company's headquarters, both located on the opposite side of the new manufacturing building.

The new manufacturing facility was officially inaugurated with a grand event that welcomed Vicoustic employees and business partners from around the globe. The 2024 Vicoustic Convention served as the platform for the grand opening, allowing attendees from 28 different countries to visit the new facility, and get to know the acoustic product manufacturing process. Visitors also explored Vicoustic's R&D labs for sound testing, and had the chance to preview a new product range.

The construction of this modern industrial facility - the fourth since its foundation, and the second custom-built building project since its foundation - reflects Vicoustic's commitment to enhanced production efficiency and environmental stewardship. The new facility incorporates sustainable practices, such as solar panels, reduced consumption, and minimized waste through the reuse of leftover materials for packaging.

Vicoustic's commitment to sustainability is exemplified in its production of acoustic solutions using recycled materials, including VicPET Wool, made primarily from ocean-rescued plastic bottles. This innovative material is used in the company’s Virtual Material Technology (VMT) acoustic panels and the interiors of VicBooth soundproofing booths.

Founded in Portugal in 2007, Vicoustic has a global presence in over 80 countries and has delivered over a million acoustic panels for numerous projects worldwide. As a pioneer in high quality design solutions for acoustic treatment and one of the first acoustic panel companies to truly achieve a global presence through a dynamic network of distributors, acoustic consutants and integrators, Vicoustic currently offers one the most extensive catalog of acoustic solutions for professional audio and recording studios, hifi and home cinema, workspaces, commercial installation and public spaces.

Having pioneered the use of recycled materials in acoustic panels, Vicoustic seamlessly integrates top-tier acoustic performance with broader sustainability goals. Its solutions not only enhance sound quality but also ensure air quality, safety, and health across various environments.
