Urbanista Introduces Phoenix True Wireless Earbuds Powered by Exeger Powerfoyle

August 10 2022, 00:55
Exeger has partnered once again with lifestyle audio brand Urbanista to launch true wireless earbuds powered by its Powerfoyle solar cell material technology, allowing endless playtime. The launch marks the next phase in the two companies’ partnership which was first announced following the launch of Urbanista Los Angeles, the world’s first self-charging over-ear headphones in 2021. The new Urbanista Phoenix TWS earbuds come with a self-charging case when exposed to any form of light.

Exeger, the innovative Swedish solar cell company, together with Urbanista, the Swedish lifestyle audio brand and a STRAX subsidiary, announced the launch of Urbanista Phoenix, the second product from the company to feature solar cell Powerfoyle technology - this time, the world’s first true wireless earbuds that will be able to offer endless playtime.

Exeger’s Powerfoyle is currently the most desirable technology available for consumer electronics, and the two Swedish companies have created a perfect partnership to showcase the concept and grow each other's business. Until Powerfoyle goes mainstream (and after CES 2023 that is certain to happen), Urbanista will be able to gain recognition in a very competitive consumer space, with a unique product that offers the strongest competitive advantage.

The new Urbanista Phoenix earbuds have a design inspired by the breathtaking desert scenery of Arizona, one of the sunniest places on Earth - a clever marketing background to highlight the  benefits of Exeger’s Powerfoyle solar cell material that converts all forms of light into clean, endless energy. The Urbanista Phoenix earbuds will continuously self-charge when stored in their case and exposed to any form of light, whether natural outdoor light or artificial indoor light.  With the Powerfoyle solar cells built-in to the charging case, users will not need cords or charging cables when out and about, knowing that the case will continue to harvest energy as long as its exposed to light - even in low light conditions.

The Phoenix’s battery reserve in the charging case offers an impressive 32 hours of playtime. And apart from being solar-powered, the Urbanista Phoenix are also hybrid active noise cancelling true wireless earbuds with a classic design (we can say that now), featuring all the most recent technology available in a Bluetooth 5.2 platform, including multipoint connectivity.

The Urbanista Phoenix earbuds feature intuitive touch controls and voice assistant support and are complemented by a dedicated app with deeper customization options with audio personalization. The advanced hybrid active noise cancelling system is also complemented with noise-reducing microphones that also enable clear calls in any environment. The IPX4 water resistance design will be available in Midnight Black and Desert Rose colors.

"Our Los Angeles self-charging headphones were so well received by customers and consumers alike, that we knew right away that we wanted to apply this futuristic way of consuming audio to a true wireless design," says Tuomas Lonka, Urbanista’s Brand and Marketing Director. "It’s a privilege to continue on this path of innovation together with Exeger and use the latest in solar cell technology to bring ground-breaking audio products to market. Urbanista Phoenix really is a market leading product, and we are excited to see how these shape the future of our listening experiences in years to come."

"I couldn’t be more excited for the launch of Urbanista Phoenix and what it represents," comments Giovanni Fili, founder and CEO of Exeger. "We’re looking to create an entirely new category of consumer electronics that will change the way we go about our daily lives. As concerns surrounding global sustainability efforts continue to mount, there is considerable demand for light-powered products like Urbanista Phoenix. We are continuously working hard to further improve cell performance and open up new and exciting verticals to enter into. As our ongoing partnership with Urbanista grows, our visions continue to align, producing impeccably designed products that focus on user experience."

Urbanista has been making audio products rooted in Scandinavian tradition since 2010, available online as well as in 30,000 stores and 90 countries around the world. The Phoenix earphones, which will be released in the fourth quarter of 2022 and will retail for $149 USD.
