Universal Audio, the audio recording and audio production tools manufacturer announced the release of UAD Software 10.2.3, featuring 16‑channel immersive audio monitoring support with Apollo x16 for Dolby Atmos, Auro‑3D, Sony 360 Reality Audio, and other audio formats. Monitoring up to 9.1.6 with the Apollo x16 Thunderbolt 3 interface is now possible, expanded with software meters to assist any type of production.

With most commercial and project studios investing in immersive audio recording and production capabilities, Universal Audio responded by updating its flagship audio recording interface Apollo x16 ($3999 USD) with the mandatory monitoring support by combining the hardware power of this Thunderbolt 3 design with the power of its software tools.

The Apollo x16 offers 16 channels of A/D and D/A conversion with the widest dynamic range, seamlessly connecting to any outboard analog equipment or mixing console in the studio. The rackmount 18x20 audio interface supports 24-bit/192KHz recording and features 6 DSP cores of HEXA Core Realtime UAD Processing for tracking through UAD plug-ins at near-zero latency, regardless of audio buffer size. Up to four Apollos can be linked for 156 channels with control from Apollo Twin or x4 desktop units (up to 6 total UAD devices). Convenient front panel monitoring functions include Alt Speakers, Talkback mic, and assignable Dim or Mono.

This free update for the Apollo x16 includes all‑new Monitor Controls, Calibration, and Metering windows in Apollo’s Console application, turning the interface into an affordable immersive audio mixing and monitoring solution up to 9.1.6. All interfaces have selectable +24 dBu operation for easy compatibility with professional mixing consoles and tape machines and include the "Realtime Analog Classics Plus" UAD plug‑in bundle.

Universal Audio is investing in new solutions integrating advanced audio machine learning, and the company recently acquired Townsend Labs, the company founded by Chris Townsend, a pioneer in microphone modeling technology.
