The KT88 was introduced originally by General Electric Company (GEC) in 1956 as a larger variant of the KT66 beam power "kinkless tetrode". It was manufactured in the UK by the MOV (Marconi-Osram Valve) subsidiary of GEC, and also labelled as IEC/Mullard.
