TIDAL Now Available on the Roku Platform with High Resolution Audio Support

September 27 2019, 00:20
TIDAL announced its launch on the Roku platform, including support for TIDAL HiFi tiers — which includes Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) recordings. Members of the music streaming service can enjoy a custom TIDAL interface while searching for videos, albums, playlists, and exclusive content to stream directly on their Roku devices. The service allows access to more than music streaming, with premiere access to high-profile original content including music videos, documentaries, concert live streams, and more.

Roku pioneered streaming for the TV, and developed a streaming platform that delivers a best-in-class user experience. At the heart of the Roku platform is the company's proprietary Linux-based operating system, Roku OS. All Roku enabled products, including Roku players, Roku Streaming Sticks and Roku TVs (licensed by Element, Hisense, Hitachi, Insignia, Sharp, and TCL) run the Roku OS. Available across North America and Europe, Roku devices combine a modern, simplified TV interface that integrates the benefits of the Roku streaming platform with traditional TV functions. The TIDAL channel features a custom interface for Roku devices, which emphasizes the music streaming sonic and visual ecosystems.

User can visit the Roku Channel Store and enter “TIDAL” in search to add the official TIDAL application. Once installed, users can either start a TIDAL free trial or sign into their existing TIDAL account.

“TIDAL’s commitment to enabling integrations that allow our members to use TIDAL as a standard part of their modern lifestyle is unparalleled,” says Lior Tibon, COO, TIDAL. “As a leader in the entertainment streaming space, our constant aim is for quality content to exist in every corner of our users’ lives so that members can watch from anywhere. Bringing our unique original content and exclusive experiences to Roku’s highly engaged user base gives us an opportunity to make TIDAL’s extensive catalog even more widely accessible.”

“Roku is driven by delivering a best-in-class streaming experience and music plays an important role to our customers,” says Tedd Cittadine, Vice President of Content Distribution, Roku. “With the expansion of our audio product lineup this fall, people will be able to enjoy TIDAL’s high resolution audio streams through the room-filling sound of our new Roku Smart Soundbar and Roku Wireless Subwoofer. We’re excited to combine our streaming entertainment platform with TIDAL’s high-quality catalog to deliver a tailored music experience.”

TIDAL is also currently compatible with popular smart platform devices such as Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, Apple CarPlay, Samsung Wearables and direct control with Sonos. TIDAL's streaming service offers more than 60 million songs and 250,000 high quality videos in its catalog along with original video series, podcasts, thousands of expertly curated playlists and artist discovery via TIDAL Rising. TIDAL is available in premium and HiFi tiers — which includes Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) recordings.
