TIDAL Launches TIDAL Connect Hifi Casting Technology

October 20 2020, 17:10
TIDAL, the global music and entertainment streaming platform, launched TIDAL Connect, the first casting technology from a music streaming service to allow users to stream music in lossless audio quality directly to connected devices, available through TIDAL HiFi premium tier. With TIDAL Connect, the company confirms launching partnerships with nine prestigious audio equipment manufacturers and StreamUnlimited as an integration launch partner.

For the first time ever, users subscribing to the TIDAL HiFi premium streaming service can enjoy uninterrupted playback of their favorite albums or tracks in their preferred quality on their preferred devices, with the TIDAL app functioning simply as a controller. Following the same model adopted by Spotify with its highly successful Spotify Connected platform, TIDAL Connect allows connected devices to access a user account and stream music directly, without the need to have a smartphone, tablet or computer tied up.

Available to Premium members as well, users can open the "Now Playing," screen while playing a song, click on the device selector on the bottom left, and choose their TIDAL Connect-enabled device for playback.

Device launch partners include prestigious brands such as Bluesound (Lenbrook), NAD, Cambridge Audio, DALI, KEF, iFi audio, Lyngdorf, Monitor Audio, and Naim Audio. StreamUnlimited is an additional integration launch partner, and will enable many more brands to also support TIDAL Connect in their products in the future.

"TIDAL consistently looks for opportunities to normalize and elevate the HiFi listening experience, with its chief aims being uncompromised high-fidelity sound and seamless access to entertainment. TIDAL Connect offers HiFi members another route to discovery, making it easier to control music on a preferred device and motivating users to use TIDAL as intended, wherever and whenever," says Lior Tibon, TIDAL COO.

TIDAL Connect is also the only casting technology to feature support for the extended audio formats available through TIDAL HiFi, including Master Quality Authenticated recordings (MQA), and Dolby Atmos. MQA delivers master quality sound as the artist intended it, and Dolby Atmos provides listeners with breakthrough immersive audio experiences through spatialized, object-based audio.

Among the new products confirmed to support TIDAL Connect are KEF's recently launched wireless HiFi speakers, the LS50 Wireless II. The new LS50 Wireless II design is a perfect match, both aesthetically and logistically. The left and right speakers can connect wirelessly and now with the added capability of wirelessly connecting to TIDAL Connect, the user’s experience is both cordless and seamless.

TIDAL offers unlimited access to an extensive catalogue of over 60 million tracks across all genres, thousands of expertly curated playlists by TIDAL’s seasoned editorial team and endless artist radio stations. With “HiFi Albums For You” and “New HiFi Tracks For You,” TIDAL curates playlists based on user listening patterns so HiFi members can listen to the latest releases in the best quality available.

TIDAL is available in 56 countries, in premium and HiFi tiers —which include Master Quality Authenticated (MQA), Sony’s 360 Reality Audio, and Dolby Atmos Music.
