The Loudspeaker Sourcing Show 2024 is Postponed

UPDATE

Philip Richardson, Owner of Trueanalog Strictly OEM and Host of the Loudspeaker Sourcing Show announced that the 2024 edition of the show, scheduled to take place 16-18 October in Guangzhou, China will be postponed this year. In a message on social media, Richardson posted that "Due to unforeseen political climate, and limited travel to China from invited countries, the Loudspeaker Sourcing Show will be postponed this year. I'm deeply sorry for the inconvenience."

The return of this trade show specifically organized for loudspeaker component manufacturers at the OEM/ODM level, was a highly anticipated opportunity, given that it hadn't taken place since 2019. Many manufacturers from the South China region and many international suppliers had already confirmed their presence for the October 2024 event. But obviously, any trade show needs visitors to be successful, and apparently registrations to that effect - with barely 3 months to go - were not confirmed as the organization expected.

audioXpress asked Philip Richardson to comment on the reasons to cancel the 2024 edition and learned that it was mainly due to the lack of confirmations from speaker companies from outside of China, which in previous years had always sent representatives and this year have not confirmed their plans to travel to China. Specifically Richardson mentions hesitation from "major name brands from Italy, Europe, USA and England" that have expressed concerns about attending at this time.

The Loudspeaker Sourcing Show strategically takes place right after the Hong Kong Electronic Show and electronicAsia, and a few days after Music China in Shanghai, where more than 125,000 visitors and more than a thousand brands participate, including many of the speaker companies. Also, China is welcoming foreign visitors and promoting tourism, with no relevant restrictions confirmed at the time.

Original announcement

The Loudspeaker Sourcing Show will take place October 16, 17, and 18, 2024 at the Nansha Grand Hotel in Nansha (Guangzhou), South China. This is the return of the only trade show specifically organized for the loudspeaker industry and exhibiting loudspeaker component manufacturers at the OEM/ODM level, plus only the technologies that are relevant for loudspeaker design and production. For companies selling and buying speaker drivers or complete systems, passive or active, this focused event is extremely valuable.

Held for the first time in 2015, this unique gathering of loudspeaker industry professionals has not taken place since 2019 as a consequence of the global COVID-19 pandemic. A lot has changed since then, but there’s never been a better time for the Loudspeaker Sourcing Show to resume, particularly to understand the new industry realities from China and Asian manufacturing in general.

Since its inception, the Loudspeaker Sourcing Show demonstrated the value of the formula, attracting an average of 400 attendees, 48 exhibitors and 25 countries represented. Always held at the Nansha Grand Hotel in Guangzhou, were attendees can stay and make the best use of time to engage with exhibitors and participants, this three day event is promoted directly by Trueanalog Strictly OEM, a tier one manufacturer of finished speaker systems located in the region.

TrueAnalog is a factory owned and run by an American who knows the local language and culture, manufactures its own custom transducers that are built into complete systems, many of which are premium brands from Europe and the US. Philip Richardson, the founder of Trueanalog, and his wife, Mandy Tseng of Zeng Ben, one of the largest suppliers of steel top-plates and back-plates used in speaker magnet assemblies, idealized the concept of a sourcing show that caters exclusively to the needs of the loudspeaker industry.

After spending years doing business in the region, Philip thought that putting together this show would be of huge benefit for everyone - a one-stop shop for speaker systems.

The show begins on the last day of the 2024 Hong Kong Electronic Show, where companies from all over the world traditionally meet suppliers. Visitors interested in attending the Loudspeaker Sourcing Show just need to take a ferry from Kowloon to Nansha - about a 1h 20m ferry ride to Nansha and within walking distance from the ferry terminal to the hotel. And since this is a highly targeted small event, attendees should not worry about language, since the organization will provide all support needed for business. All manufacturers attending speak English or have translators on hand.

As an industry trade show, registration for this event is exclusive for industry professionals and all exhibitors are factories, and actual component manufacturers of cones, spiders, voice coils, t-yokes, top plates, u-yokes, frames, crossovers, cabinets, etc. Visitors are encouraged to bring their drawings and be prepared to talk shop and get pricing at the show. Also, most exhibitors have their factories within 90 minutes of the show, so it becomes easy to plan for actual visits while there.

This sixth edition of the Loudspeaker Sourcing Show will be the most valuable ever given the “interregno” and the evolution of the vibrant manufacturing sector in China, changes in China own internal market, and the geographical diversification across Asia that is taking place. By meeting dozens of suppliers in a single place, the Loudspeaker Sourcing Show saves many thousands of dollars and months of traveling to all attendees. Not only have all exhibitors been vetted by Trueanalog, the show also provides legal guidance, with a professional law firm available to assist about doing business in China.

During the event, loudspeaker experts in attendance are invited to do presentations, with opportunities for Q&A every hour. Attendees have access to a free flow of beer, coffee, tea, and water all day, plus poolside dinner.

Bigger opportunities?
audioXpress asked Philip Richardson to give us some insights about the current business environment in China compared to 2019. Richardson confirms that the majority of companies, including foreign operations are optimistic about the growth of the Chinese market. So far, Trueanalog Strictly OEM has seen sales grow 12% in the first quarter of 2024, compared to same time last year.
