Sound Particles Introduces AudioMatrix Utility Plugin

Sound Particles, the innovative audio technology software house is not stopping its pace of development. While its core particles sound design software is being used in almost all movie blockbusters, including the latest Indiana Jones or Mission Impossible, the Portuguese company now announced the launch of AudioMatrix, an audio routing utility plugin designed to empower all audio professionals working with complex multichannel content for immersive formats.

AudioMatrix is a channel routing plugin, allowing users to easily reroute any input to any output, effectively integrating all software tools running on the same computer. Either using regular connections or special gain values (-3dB, -6dB, or custom values), with or without polarity changes, AudioMatrix offers a flexible way to change connections.

"Audio tools come in all sizes and shapes. Some create beautiful sounds, others are simply useful, saving us time or opening the door to a new world of possibilities. AudioMatrix is one of such tools," says Nuno Fonseca, founder and CEO of Sound Particles. "With support for up to 64 channels of audio, AudioMatrix is the tool that any sound professional should have in their toolset, either working in stereo, surround or immersive."

Some ways that users might find AudioMatrix invaluable include creating speaker arrays to reproduce 5.1 audio in a 7.1 studio, using all surround speakers and with the right levels. It also allows temporarily sending any signal to the center channel, for easier fine tune when working with immersive sounds, or converting stereo to Mid-Side (and back to stereo), for additional flexibility in terms of stereo FX processing.

And exploring the same conversion possibilities, AudioMatrix allows users to flip sounds from left to right channels for a better fit with the image, from stereo to complex 7.1.2 soundscapes. And they can transform immersive audio into a big mono sound in the blink of an eye, or create custom mono sounds controlling the contribution of each channel.

For surround or immersive mixes, users can control LFE level independently of all remaining channels, and gather audio from all channels into the subwoofer channel, when a bass management system is not in place. AudioMatrix also offers a fast way to upmix or downmix something, controlling the contribution of each channel. It's also possible to convert formats with different specifications, such as from 5.1 Film to 5.1 SMPTE by changing channel ordering.

Audio Matrix is now available with a promotional launch discounted price of $99.
