Lutron Electronics’ announcement of the Sonos integration anticipates the official presentation at CEDIA 2016, and allows users to control their home’s sights and sounds in a simple and personalized way. The lighting control market leader unveiled a new Sonos-endorsed integration and a new Pico Remote Control for Audio. The Sonos integration is built directly into all Lutron smart home systems, making it easy to incorporate the control into each solution. In addition to the new Pico remote, consumers can use any Lutron keypad and app to incorporate Sonos audio control into customized lighting scenes.
“Lutron works with best-in-class brands like Sonos to enhance the user experience,” says Michael Smith, Lutron vice-president of sales. “The alignment of these two powerful brands, whose products both deliver sensory experiences, means creating a better atmosphere for every occasion – not just for family dinners, but for your everyday music enjoyment. With the Pico Remote for Audio, consumers can have quick, convenient, hard-button control of audio alongside lights and shades, helping to create the perfect mood.”
The collaboration with Sonos gives consumers direct, one-touch control of any Sonos speaker alongside lights, shades and temperature, when used with Lutron’s Caséta Wireless, RadioRA 2, and HomeWorks QS smart home systems. The solution allows users to play, pause, skip tracks, and adjust volume, in exactly the same way they are able to control lights and shades from a nightstand or from the wall.
“Our collaboration with Lutron makes it even easier to control Sonos in the connected home,” says Andrew Vloyanetes, Sonos global business development manager. “We believe the home is better with sound, and now with Lutron, music lovers have even more control of Sonos alongside their home lighting, shades, and temperature to easily personalize their home experience.”
“Music sounds better when the lights are just right,” adds Smith. “Imagine settling into the couch with a glass of wine and you can adjust the lights and music right from the Pico remotes on your coffee table. Or as you pull into your driveway, the entry lights automatically turn on and your Sonos Home Sound System starts playing to welcome you through the front door. Music lovers will truly appreciate how easy it is to sync your music and lights and get immersed in the experience.”
