Skullcandy Aviator 900 ANC Headphones Feature THX Spatial Audio with Head Tracking

Skullcandy announced the revival of its popular Aviator franchise with the launch of Aviator 900 ANC ($299.99), its most premium headphones to date. When the original Skullcandy Aviator line launched in 2010, it was embraced by a global audience of tastemakers and celebrities drawn to its unique form factor and first-class audio experience. The new Aviator 900 ANC builds off the original’s classical retro aesthetic with new materials and technologies for those who want a style-forward, best-in-class audio experience.

According to the Utah-based company, the new Aviator 900 ANC headphones were designed to bring immersion and emotional depth to the listening experience with THX Spatial Audio with Head Tracking and Personal Sound by Mimi. When watching content on a screen, this adds a different level of immersiveness, where the audio responds to the micromovements of the user's head and adapts the position for the most accurate spatial experience that better recreates how audio is experienced in the real world. And with Personal Sound by Mimi, users will be able to perform hearing tests and load their listening profile for a sound performance tuned to their unique hearing.

"THX Spatial Audio with head tracking on the new Aviator is a historic moment for both companies," says Tuyen Pham, chief executive officer of THX Ltd. "This collaboration merges THX's long-standing mission to bring the best audio technology to consumers of entertainment with the popularity of the Skullcandy brand. With THX Spatial Audio on board the Aviator 900 ANC, Skullcandy is truly empowering their customers to hear movies, music, and games the way the creator intended the content to be enjoyed with emotional connection, depth, and immersion."

The Bluetooth 5.3 design (ready to support LE Audio) features a premium 6-Mic Adaptive Active Noise Canceling for distraction-free listening, and all the essential features such as wear detect and multipoint pairing. The adaptive noise canceling implementation uses six built-in microphones that detect and adapt to the surroundings, canceling out distractions and background audio. When the noise around the user changes, the headphones automatically adjust. Users can also define the Stay-Aware Mode for environmental awareness.

And with up to 50 hours with ANC on (60 hours of battery life in total with ANC off), users can fly around the world without ever needing to recharge, while a 10-minute charge adds 4 hours of playtime. To explore all the features available in the Aviator 900 ANC headphones, users can explore the customizable controls through the Skullcandy App, adjusting the stay-aware mode, custom EQ, and button remapping, making the experience feel intuitive and personal.

The new Aviator 900 ANC headphones also make a style statement, featuring a bold materials mix – vintage-inspired hardware, suede, polished finishes – and iconic design elements like a knurled thumbwheel, joystick, and retro-inspired multi-function LCD display. The collapsible, travel-ready, sweat/water-resistant design also includes an original cross-body travel bag.

"This marks Skullcandy’s bold entry into the premium headphone space," says Justin Regan, vice president of marketing, Skullcandy. "It's a fearless move for a brand known for doing things differently – and proof that great sound and standout design can live in the same package."

The Aviator 900 ANC headphones are now available.
