Sennheiser Announces New CX Plus True Wireless with Active Noise Cancellation

September 13 2021, 21:00
Short after announcing the CX True Wireless earbuds focusing on sound and call quality, Sennheiser is now expanding its range with a new top of the range model with active noise cancellation at an attractive price point. The new development uses the same CX design and form factor, which Sennheiser believes delivers the sound quality and wearing comfort that are essential in the segment. The new Sennheiser CX Plus True Wireless also offers effortless smart interactions and aptX Adaptive.

Sennheiser believes the brand is synonymous with superior sound in the minds of consumers, and its new CX Plus True Wireless earphones are promoted first and foremost from that perspective – at an accessible price point. As the company explains, this is made possible thanks to the clarity of its German-engineered TrueResponse transducer, an acoustic system originally developed for premium earphones that brings the high-end technology to everyday listening.

To this acoustic system, Sennheiser now adds Active Noise Cancellation features, ensuring that listeners are able to still  enjoy all the "clarity, detail and thrilling bass" without distractions – even in noisier environments. Meanwhile, the Transparent Hearing feature makes it easy to focus on external sounds when desired without the need to remove the earbuds, allowing users to stay aware of their surroundings.

“Hot on the heels of our stylish CX True Wireless, we are now bringing an even more exceptional consumer earphone offering to the market,” says Frank Foppe, Product Manager at Sennheiser. “With audiophile-grade technology and added features like Active Noise Cancellation and Transparent Hearing, the CX Plus True Wireless provides a high-fidelity listening experience that’ll last the whole day.”

The CX Plus True Wireless earbud also offer customizable touch controls, allowing users to tailor audio and call control features the way they want. Each earbud is equipped with a pair of dual mics that optimizes speech for calls and voice assistant access to ensure crystal clear voice pick-up. Due to the updated Qualcomm Bluetooth 5.2 platform implemented, any of the earbuds can now be used independently.

Smart Pause automatically pauses audio when the earbuds are taken out and instantly resumes playback when replaced. The earbuds also automatically power up when removed from their charging case and switch off when put away, so they are ready when the user needs them. The CX Plus True Wireless model also offers the latest connectivity options with AAC, aptX and aptX Adaptive codec support. Bluetooth connections can be easily managed via the Sennheiser Smart Control app, while the built-in EQ and Bass Boost preset deliver a personalized audio experience.

All Sennheiser’s True Wireless earbuds have been developed in line with the latest ergonomic research. The compact CX Plus True Wireless earbuds securely fit in the ear canal, while optimal comfort is assured with a selection of four sizes of silicon ear adapters, which add further passive noise isolation to complement the earbuds’ ANC.

With IPX4 rated splash resistance, long-lasting battery and portable charging case, providing an impressive 24 hours of playback time, the Sennheiser CX Plus True Wireless earbuds are great all-rounders. Available in black or white for $179.95 USD (MSRP), starting September 28, 2021.
