The improvement in sound quality that Sennheiser says defines the new Momentum True Wireless 2 earbuds are the result of the brand's 7mm dynamic drivers that the German brand says create "outstanding stereo sound with deep bass, natural mids and clear, detailed treble." But the natural response of the drivers can also be freely personalized thanks to the built-in equalizer and Sennheiser’s Smart Control App, allowing users to have a sound experience tailored to taste.
Otherwise, the main reason for the upgrade is naturally related with the need to compete head to head with all the latest products in the category that also offer Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). For Sennheiser, the implementation meant making sure that the ANC features do not compromise the high-fidelity sound and that the response is consistent, even in noisy environments. And, when greater situational awareness is needed, the Transparent Hearing feature lets users blend in outside ambient sound at a touch, so they can have natural conversations in comfort without even needing to remove the earbuds.
For all-day listening, the new Momentum True Wireless 2 earbuds deliver 7 hours of playback time and up to 28 hours by charging on the go using the supplied case. And for wearing a product for so much time, Sennheiser also made sure that the Momentum True Wireless 2 earbuds were refined for comfort. The new earbuds were crafted to 2mm smaller than the previous model, allowing for the best possible fit and to minimize fatigue. And like the previous generation, they feature premium materials such as the iconic Sennheiser spin design rendered in a high-quality metallic finish and gold-plated charging pins.
Another effort that Sennheiser reviewed are the control features. Every interaction is now customizable, thanks to intuitive touch controls that place control of audio, calls and activating voice assistants like Google Assistant or Apple Siri at the user's fingertips. And a convenient Smart Pause feature will now automatically pause audio playback when the user removes the earbuds and seamlessly resumes when placed back in the ear.
In addition to the classic black edition, the Momentum True Wireless 2 will be available in a stylish white color scheme, with coordinating fabric finishes on the slim charging case. Priced at $299.95 (MSRP), the new true wireless earbuds will be available in black from April 2020, while the white color variant will be available at a later point.
