April 16 2021, 00:35
The Audio Engineering Society appointed Sean Martin as AES International Sales Manager, underscoring AES’s momentum as the industry recovery begins to allow events and business to progress toward post-pandemic activity alongside the Society’s commitment to build further upon the success and value of its online events. Sean Martin’s decades of experience in the audio industry ideally suit him to his new role as the interface between the Society and its industry partners.

Sean Martin will be responsible for event sales, Sustaining Memberships, AES’s Audio Product Education Institute (APEI) sponsorships, E-Library subscriptions and working with AES Standards Sustainers. He will report to AES Director of Sales and Marketing, Graham Kirk.

“Sean has a phenomenal background in professional audio,” says Kirk, “ideally suiting him to this new position. Given his proven record of success and his stature in the industry, we are confident that the Society, our industry partners and the industry as a whole will benefit from Sean’s joining the AES team.”

Starting his career with London’s Court Acoustics, co-owned by AES member Stephen Court and Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, Martin’s first interaction with the Audio Engineering Society began demonstrating Court sound systems at an AES convention in Montreux, Switzerland. Now, a good number of years later and following international sales and business development roles with professional audio manufacturers such as JBL, Tannoy, EAW, Bose and Turbosound, Martin is bringing his decades of sales management experience to the Society.

“Throughout my career,” says Martin, “I’ve seen the ubiquitous impact of the Audio Engineering Society’s rich legacy of driving audio technology forward while providing a foundation of standards that benefit audio professionals globally, daily. I’m delighted to join the team as a bridge between the Society and its corporate sponsors as we work together to inform and educate audio pros, to further advance the science and practice of audio, and to build a stronger industry.”

The Audio Engineering Society, celebrating over 70 years of audio excellence, now counts over 12,000 members throughout the U.S., Latin America, Europe, Japan and the Far East. The organization serves as the pivotal force in the exchange and dissemination of technical information for the industry. Currently, its members are affiliated with 90 AES professional sections and more than 120 AES student sections around the world. Section activities include guest speakers, technical tours, demonstrations and social functions. Through Conventions, Conferences, Training and Development and Member Events, and the Society’s vast online resources, members experience valuable opportunities for professional networking and personal growth.
