PSI Audio Unveils A226-MAIN Three-Way Main Studio Monitor

May 8 2025, 01:05
PSI Audio unveiled its latest A226-MAIN, an active three-way studio monitor, designed for main monitors and mastering applications. Two 10-inch woofers in symmetrical configuration combine with an all-new aluminum coil tweeter and the company’s Extended Dome (EXD) midrange driver. Touted as the pinnacle of PSI Audio speaker development, the Swiss company rates the A226-MAIN to cover the entire 20Hz to 23kHz frequency spectrum with a maximum SPL level of 112dB as per AES 75 standard.

The all-analog, new three-way main studio monitor A226-MAIN is described as "The Big One" by PSI Audio. Combining all the company's developments and philosophy, the A226-MAIN is the largest speaker the Swiss manufacturer has ever developed. Two 10" woofers for the lows, complemented by a midrange driver and tweeter, all in a solid, fully reinforced double MDF enclosure, the A226-MAIN will deliver "the real thing" as the company says.

To drive this configuration, the A226-MAIN uses four Class G/H power amplifiers with 500W (2x 250W), 150W, and 65W, which are able to generate a clean result even at the monitor's 126dB peak. "The fine art of PSI Audio lies in making these components work together in a way that creates the most accurate sound image to date, reproducing audio exactly as it was originally captured. This is it," says Roger Roschnik, CEO and principal owner at Relec SA - PSI Audio.

The A226-MAIN employs two 10" woofers and a double flow guide bass reflex configuration to ensure a deep and powerful bass without air turbulence or noise. In the symmetrical setup, the two bass transducers are placed on either side of the mid-high baffle, which can be rotated as required. This configuration and the waveguides achieve a limitation of vertical dispersion and a wide sweet spot. There is also a stand designed specifically for this monitor to allow optimum orientation at all times.

The A226-MAIN also combines all the PSI Audio technologies such as Compensated Phase Response (CPR) filters, Adaptive Output Impedance (AOI) feedback loop motion control, and all-analog electronics to avoid latency. Like all PSI Audio speakers, the A226-MAIN is developed, built, and calibrated entirely in the company’s own manufacturing facilities in Switzerland, where every step in the production process is documented. Every A226-MAIN comes with its very own measuring graph.

The new PSI Audio A226-MAIN main monitors are available for preorder, with prices yet to be announced.
