ams AG, a leading worldwide supplier of high performance sensor solutions, is a rising force in the industry with many important innovations that are meeting next-gen consumer demands. And that includes many of the main market trends for the audio industry, such as hearing enhancers, hearables, voice capture and recognition and acoustic sensing. The Austrian company will showcase several industry-first technologies for mobile devices at MWC 2019 in Barcelona later this month, including exciting developments in active noise cancelling.
There's many reasons to visit ams at MWC 2019, as digital transformation continues to influence every existing business model and the emerging use case scenarios of tomorrow depend on the combination of sensor technology and the promise of technologies such as 5G. While the focus of the Barcelona mega-trade-show is naturally the mobile industry, ams is investing to drive innovation in many applications for its sensor solutions.
ams will show ground-breaking sensor solutions, which include highly advanced 3D technology - Active Stereo, Structured Light and Time of Flight - for smartphones, computing, automotive and robotics; accurate ambient light, color and proximity sensing solutions to operate behind OLED displays used in next-generation mobile phones; or color sensors that enhance pictures to professional levels.
Show visitors can see how ams advances in industry-leading 3D technology will be used in the specialized applications such as solid-state LiDAR to 3D car access and commands, to 3D solutions and advanced hearing for Robotics and AI. Other highlights include also NanEyeM and NanEyeXS miniature, high-resolution CMOS image sensors for medical and industrial use, and the latest bio sensors for control and vital signs monitoring (heart rate, blood pressure, stress levels).
For audio developers, ams will be showing its tiny, yet powerful earbud technology for improved ANC experiences (digital and analog) and medical-grade wearable devices that monitor blood pressure. In the thriving area of Digital Active Noise Cancellation, visitor will be able to experience the upcoming ams AS3460 solution which reduces background noise while enhancing the listening experience for the wearer in any environment. As for Analog Active Noise Cancellation, ams will be demonstrating the latest consumer headsets offering excellent acoustic performance and low power consumption at an affordable price using the company's solutions.
ams will also demonstrate POW:COM, an innovative interface technology which enables power and communication between a true wireless earbud and a charging cradle over a two-wire connection for Android-based systems. And specifically on wireless earbuds, ams will show True Wireless Stereo (TWS) applications using its TMD2635 device that addresses the “in-ear detection” function in a small package with low power usage.
“We invest to remain at the forefront of technology to create new market trends, and what we are showing at MWC is the result: ground-breaking sensor solutions touch every aspect of people’s lives to make things simpler, more autonomous, and fun,” says Alexander Everke, CEO at ams. “Our solutions help our customers differentiate their brands, while providing real ‘fun-factor’ ingredients that excite users of new technology.”
