Luxshare-ICT Selects USound as Strategical MEMS Speaker Supplier For Next-Generation TWS

November 28 2022, 00:15
Austrian MEMS piezoelectric microspeaker specialist USound announced an agreement with Luxshare-ICT, one of the largest manufacturers and supplier for global consumer electronics brands. Luxshare-ICT chose USound as its strategical MEMS speaker supplier for its new ultra-compact hybrid audio module intended to power next-generation innovative dual-driver true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds. The new Luxshare-ICT audio TWS solution will be in mass production in 2023.

Dual-driver solutions are in high demand as global brands aim to improve the audio experience in true wireless stereo products. Hybrid or dual-driver earphones integrate two microspeakers into one earbud for improved bass and clear vocals. Combining Luxshare-ICT's and USound's technology, this new hybrid audio module overcomes current true wireless earbuds challenges in terms of audio performance and form factor.

"The new hybrid ultra-compact audio module achieves excellent audio performance, reproducing natural vocals and deep, immersive bass. As a result of the ultra-small form factor of the module, personal audio products can be more ergonomic and further miniaturized without compromising audio quality," the announcement states.

The new new ultra-compact hybrid audio module also features an amplifier and MEMS microphones making it a ready-to-use solution for modern true wireless stereo systems. USound, has been working on the development of these integrated audio modules in order to be able to offer a new integrated solution for hearing aids and true wireless earbuds. First announced in August 2022, the collaboration with Luxshare-ICT, has already been scheduled to enter mass production in 2023.

With a $24 billion revenue and 172 thousand employees, Luxshare-ICT is a key supplier to many major global consumer electronics brands, and a key assembler of AirPods for Apple. The company holds multiple manufacturing facilities in China and Vietnam

"Cooperating with Luxshare-ICT is another milestone for the adoption of MEMS technology in the audio industry. With this ultra-compact hybrid audio module as a ready-made solution, hearables manufacturers can accelerate production and deliver high-quality personal audio products," says Ferruccio Bottoni, Co-founder and CEO at USound.

Working in the field of piezoelectric MEMS microspeakers for more than six years, USound continues to explore new designs and form factors to bring the technology to the market. USound's unique selling proposition is based on the radical miniaturization of the drivers, power reduction, and increased production efficiency. Its products, already safeguarded by over 300 patents, have been praised by several global brands in terms of sound pressure level, manufacturability, reliability, and quality.
