IsoAcoustics Introduces DELOS Series of Isolation Wood Blocks for Turntables and Hi-Fi Components

IsoAcoustics is recognized worldwide for its speaker isolation solutions both for professional studio and high-end applications. In the high-end space, the company was repeatedly asked to provide a solution for turntables, which they did with the OREA Isolator series. Now, IsoAcoustics expanded the approach with a complete platform solution. The new DELOS series of solid-wood isolation platforms, was designed specifically to isolate turntables and audio components from any interference caused by external vibrations and resonances.

Introduced at the AXPONA show in Chicago and the High End show in Munich, Germany, the DELOS series of isolation platforms was developed for turntables and any other audio component requiring a flat surface. Beneath the DELOS’ real-wood solid walnut or maple platform there are built-in IsoAcoustics isolator attachments featuring patented decoupling technology that effectively reduce unwanted vibrations.

The wood platforms are available in a smaller 18”W x 15”D (455x380mm) size and a larger 22”W x 16”D (560x405mm) size. Both sizes are available in 1.75" (45mm) and 3" (76mm) thickness. The smaller size has a maximum weight capacity of 65 lbs (29.5 kg) and 55 lbs (24.9 kg) for each thickness model, respectively. The larger size DELOS has an extra row of integrated isolators to provide a greater weight capacity at 100 lbs (45.4 kg) for the 1.75 (45mm) thick model and 90 lbs (40.8 kg) for the 3" (75mm) model. The thicker 3” (75mm) models provide additional mass and best results with heavier turntables and components.

Named after the floating island of Delos from the Greek mythology, the new platforms combine IsoAcoustics' recognized patented isolation technology with a solid wood block that provides a stable platform with a low noise floor. The mass of the dense maple wood and the integrated IsoAcoustics isolators combine to eliminate any interference from external and structural vibrations, resulting in superior audio performance with greater clarity and detail.

“Turntables, for example are extremely sensitive to vibrations. The stylus navigating the tiny variations in the vinyl’s grooves is a delicate process that is easily interrupted by vibrations,” says IsoAcoustics’ CEO Dave Morrison. “We found the most effective solution to diminish the effects of external vibrations was integrating our isolators into a butcher block to combine mass with our patented isolation technology and together we discovered great synergy.”

Compared to the OREA Isolators, which are sold individually, the DELOS system provides a flat stable platform, which also provides mass. The mass of the wood block complements the IsoAcoustics isolators to more effectively eliminate the effects of structural vibrations and resonances, in particular with turntables that use an external motor. The platform also decouples all sorts of audio components to diminish structural vibrations and resonances.

The IsoAcoustics DELOS series is now available in the U.S. and will be progressively available in Europe and the rest of the world from September 2019, with prices starting at $399.99 for the smaller DELOS 18" by 1.75" model; $499.99 for the DELOS 18" by 3″; $599.99 for the larger DELOS 22" by 1.75" thick model; and $699.99 for the more robust DELOS 22" with a 3″ thick base.
