Headphone Disconnector Magnetic Adapter Ends Headphone Abuse

You have to love Angry Audio. The company headquartered in Music City, Nashville, always manages to surprise us with great product ideas. This time, they devised the Headphone Disconnector, a simple solution inspired by Apple's MagSafe connector to help deal with different headphone jack sizes, and the damage that results from people pulling the headphones from the cable, instead of pulling the connector. Angry Radio designs products for radio, but they might have found a wider market.

Angry Audio makes the gadgets and gizmos that solve difficult studio problems for broadcasters and content creators and knows how those environments are hard on headphones. It seems every radio engineer keeps a box of ruined cans, cables and connectors for repair. And that is why they designed a simple solution to this pervasive problem. The Headphone Disconnector is a short adapter that is inserted between the headphone jack and cable. Pull it, and the inline magnetic quick-release connector separates before anything gets damaged. Reconnecting is just as fast and easy. Just get the two connector poles near each other and they snap together again. According to the company, the strength of the magnets has been carefully engineered so the connector stays together during normal use but separates only when needed.

The Headphone Disconnector is the solution for forgetful "walkaways," chair rollovers, cable stomps, and "dancing DJ's"... Four versions are available covering all types of standard plugs and jacks, enabling users to also use the Headphone Disconnector as a plug adapter to quickly move headphones between different sound sources. It's also a great solution for those systems that  use larger 1/4" jack and we have headphones that have a fixed cable using the smaller 3.5mm plug... or vice-versa.

Every Angry Audio device is meticulously engineered to deliver the best performance, and in this design they seem to have it the right formula - just wish they would have designed that connector to look less like a MagSafe, using a different shape... just in case this gets the wrong attention in Cupertino.

Angry Audio products are available from the world's finest broadcast equipment dealers.
