HEAD acoustics Improves Efficiency of End-of-Line Tests

November 6 2024, 00:35
HEAD acoustics is setting new standards in end-of-line (EoL) testing with a new modular test system that combines the company's AQuire V4 hardware front-end with its AI-supported conTEST software for efficient analysis. According to the German company, this state-of-the-art solution allows manufacturers to implement real-time pass/fail decisions with increased process reliability, and improved vibroacoustic product quality.

With almost 40 years of experience in this field, HEAD acoustics' precise and seamlessly integrated vibroacoustic testing methods enable manufacturers to detect product defects, malfunctions, or acoustic anomalies in series production at an early stage and thus reduce costs. The combination of HEAD acoustics' AQuire V4 hardware front end and conTEST software ensures seamless integration into existing EoL systems, high fault detection accuracy, and easy and efficient handling.

The ingenious combination of the AQuire V4 front-end and the AI-enabled conTEST software makes pass/fail decisions based on vibration and sound measurements taken with an extensive range of sensors, including non-contact data acquisition techniques such as laser vibrometers, microphone sensors, or acceleration sensors for wear and condition monitoring. This enables detecting a wide variety of vibroacoustic problems.

Enabling quality assurance at the highest level, HEAD acoustics says this integration will help minimize recalls and ensure smoother production processes. Thanks to the company's cross-product compatibility, existing HEAD acoustics customers can seamlessly transition from product development with ArtemiS SUITE, the company's powerful modular software platform for analyzing sound and vibration, to testing acoustic product properties with AQuire and conTEST.

"Such a consistent and perfectly coordinated overall solution for the vibroacoustic production chain cannot be found anywhere else," the HEAD acoustics says. "In addition to these powerful tools for the entire development and production process, HEAD acoustics offers comprehensive support services. Our Engineering Services support our customers with decades of experience, know-how, and innovative, scientifically based methods. This way, we help them ensure that only impeccable quality products leave the production line."

The new conTEST modular software solution for end-of-line (EoL) and condition monitoring processes offers ensures fully automatic defect detection in real-time. conTEST is based on innovative signal processing algorithms and defect detection metrics, which reflect HEAD acoustics extensive experience in industrial acoustics. Upon detecting any anomalies, the software is able to immediately decide whether the product meets the requirements.

HEAD acoustics AQuire V4 is a 4-channel front-end with network and USB connectivity, purposely designed for end-of-line applications. The compact device connects to a computer running conTEST via LAN or USB and can also be used as a front-end for data acquisition with ArtemiS SUITE. It can be used with up to four analog microphones, accelerometers or other analog sensors, a pulse source, and a CAN-FD bus. It can be easily integrated into an existing infrastructure thanks to various power supply options, enabling the conTEST analysis software to be also perfectly integrated into end-of-line test stands and production lines.
