HEAD acoustics announced the launch of its Artemis Suite Release 14 software for sound and vibration analysis, introducing a new generation of sound measurements and many new possibilities that save time and costs. Among the multiple improvements, new features and user interface refinements, the new software introduces a new Augmented Reality (AR) interface, developed in cooperation with HoloMetrix, that makes tasks such as the creation of sound intensity maps for fast source localization much easier, faster, and more reliable.
HEAD acoustics GmbH is one of the world's leading companies offering holistic sound and vibration analysis solutions, and its Artemis Suite is a software platform for measuring and analyzing sound and vibration in applications such as product optimization and environmental noise. The modular software solution combines several tools in a standardized environment, enabling applications for recording sound, vibration and other variables such as temperature, stresses and torques, recording and decoding bus data such as CAN, CAN-FD and FlexRay, documenting recordings with user-defined metadata, analyzing the recordings using varied algorithms and sophisticated representation tools, and finally implementing standardized tests for validation, among many of its tools.
Artemis Suite Release 14 introduces new methods for DIN EN ISO 9614-1 measurements, moving away from manual measurement and measurement preparation to an efficient virtual solution with augmented reality glasses that enable visualization of required sound intensity measurements. This was made possible by a new interface to HoloMetrix' software solution Sound HUB, which received the German Innovation Award 2022.
With this new interface in Artemis Suite, users can use augmented reality to guide even inexperienced users safely through the entire measurement procedure, and enabling visualization of the measurement progress as well as the measurement results. In combination with the sound intensity tool, Artemis Suite users can now measure sound intensities to determine the sound power or create sound intensity maps for quick source localization using AR glasses and a virtual, standard-compliant measurement grid superimposed on the real test object. This saves time and costs, completely eliminating the time-consuming physical measurement grids or the manual measurement of the probe position otherwise required for measurements. Instead, users can position the measuring probe simply, safely and precisely with the aid of the virtual measuring grid.
For assessment of sound power, according to the relevant ISO 3740 series standards, which are based on sound pressure measurements, HEAD acoustics introduced separate analyses for the K1 background noise correction and the K2 environmental correction. This allows direct automation of these corrections during sound power measurements, increasing the efficiency and quality of results.
The new Artemis Suite Release 14 also introduces improved structural analysis tools that make it easier and more efficient to import data from other systems, or correcting errors. To make the quality or results even better, the MAC visualization with adjustable limit values is now realized by the modal analysis software directly during the calculation. And users can export vibration modes to Excel to prepare reports and enable further evaluations and analyzes.
In the field of psychoacoustics, HEAD acoustics introduced innovations such as additional annoyance weighting for tone content (hearing model) and specific tone content (hearing model). This allows additional weighting of results for frequencies above 1 kHz that people find particularly annoying. In addition, users can now calculate loudness analyzes using the Moore-Glasberg-Schlittenlacher method. The underlying standard ISO 532-3 has been published as a draft, and the calculation is already integrated in Artemis Suite Release 14.
Finally, HEAD acoustics also introduced refinements and improvements to the software in areas such as native foreign format support (ATFX), the integrated recorder, the Documentation Editor and ASCII / CSV import. In addition, the whole Artmeis Suite is now even more user-friendly thanks to improvements to the user interface and extended functionalities of the HEAD Navigator.
