Fulcrum Acoustic has released the AHC2 High Output Coaxial Horn, a bi-amplified 2-way, high sensitivity, arrayable coaxial horn design. The new AHC2 retains the compact enclosure, precise pattern control to below 400Hz, low frequency extension to below 80Hz and associated features of the original AH coaxial horn loudspeakers, while incorporating upgraded drivers capable of much higher output..
The AHC2 design - and the soon to be released AHC4 model (pictured above behind the AHC2) - is particularly effective in acoustically challenging spaces where broadband pattern control is necessary, and in applications requiring high acoustic output and high fidelity. A unique, compact trapezoidal shape allows AHC loudspeakers to be deployed with their trapezoidal profile vertically oriented for stand-alone use, in distributed systems, or in vertical arrays; or with its trapezoidal profile horizontally oriented for use in horizontal tight-packed arrays.
“Advances in woofer and compression driver technology allowed us to create the new AHS series of digitally configurable loudspeaker modules,” says Rich Frembes, Product manager at Fulcrum Acoustic. “It was logical for us to update the AH with these new drivers to provide increased output and fidelity.”
The new AHC2 model is available in four fixed coverage horn patterns, using two high-power 10” woofers with dual 3.5” voice coils, and one coaxial mid/high compression driver (4” and 2.5″ voice coil coaxial ring radiator). It features Fulcrum Acoustic’s Compression Head horn architecture and Oculus Phase Plugs to extend the length of the low frequency horn while minimizing cabinet depth. This configuration allows the compact AHC2 model to still provide broadband pattern control to below 400Hz and low frequency extension to below 80Hz.
Fulcrum Acoustic’s proprietary Temporal Equalization ensures exceptional clarity and precise transient response even at the extremely high sound pressure levels. The compact enclosures of the AHC2 allow for smooth integration into a wide variety of venues and support structures.
Detailed specifications and measurements of the AHC2 High Output Coaxial Horn are available on Fulcrum Acoustic’s website. The new AHC2 design includes specific coverage pattern models, identified as the AHC295 (90° x 45°), AHC296 (90° x 60°), AHC265 (60° x 45°), and AHC266 (60° x 60°) .
Founded in 2008, employing the research of company co-founder David Gunness, Fulcrum Acoustic is a professional loudspeaker manufacturer known for its unique approach to loudspeaker design. Fulcrum Acoustic combines proprietary coaxial design and Temporal Equalization processing power to create a powerful and versatile line of loudspeakers available.
