Faital S.p.A. is a long established loudspeaker manufacturer, headquartered in Milan since 1958 and quickly evolving into one of the main Italian manufacturers of loudspeakers for automotive and consumer electronic applications. FaitalPRO was created already in the new millennium, to expand the company's growth in professional audio applications with a full line of premium loudspeakers. While FaitalPRO's range of neodymium magnet low frequency drivers have helped to propel the company's reach in demanding, large scale live sound and touring sound systems, the lower cost ferrite magnet series represent a larger larger volume in many standard sound reinforcement speakers for many application segments, including in the commercial installation, which has proven much more resilient throughout 2020.
The announcement of a new improved FE300 series of ferrite magnet low frequency drivers meets what the company says is overwhelming demand for an evolved series of these popular drivers. To meet the challenge, FaitalPRO set out to make a complete range of products covering a variety of loudspeaker sizes, with improvements in all areas. The FE300 series offers 6" to 12" transducers that share the same quality, the same concept in terms of power and acoustical performance as previous popular products, now equipped with a unique 52mm (2.05-inch) voice coil (aluminum wire, copper in the larger 12" model) on a glass fiber former across the range, providing more power for the same level of application, with more freedom to design for manufacturers, and more opportunities for speaker designers to explore.
"The established success of the FaitalPRO FE200 series is one of the driving forces behind the FE300 series development. Our goal was to create an even more versatile series of products by extending the range in terms of size and power. All models in this range can be easily integrated into MI applications where the tradition of ferrite loudspeakers has always been strong. In addition the FE300 series will perfectly fit the needs of professional designers developing bass reflex and sealed enclosures," the company states.
The new FE300 series offers four woofers in the standard 6, 8, 10 and 12 inch diameter formats, all sharing the same design concepts such as FEM optimized ferrite magnet assemblies, 52mm voice coils and steel basket structures. Waterproof treated paper cones with double and triple roll polycotton surrounds, incorporated convection cooling systems and solid designs, all add to make this high performing, scalable series reliable and practical.
All the four FE300 woofers are rated for pro level power ratings (175W to 250W AES @ 8 Ohms), designed to maximize power and overall performance, with a ventilation system that reduces distortion levels, while keeping working temperature under control even at the maximum rated power.
