CEntrance is now shipping DACport Pro, a portable D/A converter, headphone amplifier, and monitor controller for audio professionals. With the DACport Pro, the Chicago-based company builds on the success of its DACport HD, which was designed for HiFi enthusiasts. The professional version of the portable DAC adds balanced XLR output jacks, a large monitor volume control knob, and LED VU meters, ideal to connect a laptop to a mixer or professional sound setup. Shipping now for US $369.99.

"We've all been there — needing to stream music from the laptop into a console or a sound system, but lacking the right cable to make the connection," says Michael Goodman, CEntrance CEO. "DACport Pro allows users to easily connect a laptop to a mixer or a sound system and offers consistent, high-quality playback in any venue. This function was requested by famous audio engineers, who wanted a small, portable DAC they can carry from studio to studio with their laptop."

The new design does not compromise on audio quality and helps audio professionals to achieve consistent sound no matter where they go. It is also gaining appreciation from keyboard players, who use virtual instruments in live performances, and DJs who rely on their laptops to create their sound on stage. The DACport Pro simplifies the connection to professional audio systems, making it easy to use a laptop on stage or any live performance.

"This handheld USB DAC is a great direct box replacement with all of the benefits of a USB Interface. It doesn't weigh you down, has a convenient analog knob and meters for monitoring," says Kelly Epperson, Founder and CEO of Easy Live Audio. "I love the ability to have fixed output while having the volume control for the headphones. It's great for House of Worship work, for use with Apple’s Main Stage, and other software-based instruments."

The DACport Pro is an updated USB-C audio interface that supports up to 32-bit/384 kHz PCM sources, plus DSD and features acclaimed AKM D/A Velvet Sound converters. The custom AmpExtreme Class A headphone amplifier with a 20dB gain pad is compatible with the widest range of headphones, from IEMs to large overhead models. And by featuring fully balanced, male XLR outputs, it makes it easy to connect to mixing desks, powered monitors and other pro level equipment for audio playback from any computer.

A Fixed/Variable switch determines if the volume knob controls levels at the XLR outputs or just the headphones, while recessed Mic/Line switches simplify connections to mixers, speakers and other equipment, allowing use in both professional and home environments. On the top surface it offers white LED VU meters, calibrated to 0db FS with the top 0dB LEDs being red. LED brightness is gradually adjustable with a thumb-wheel control, from "off" to daylight-visible.

Designed to work with Mac, Windows and Linux computers, the DACport Pro receives its power from the USB-C jack, with no need for external power and carrying extra adapters. To help survive the rigors of daily use, the chassis is made of lightweight aluminum and it features a standard mount thread, allowing it to be fixed at a convenient angle, using a tripod or clamp mount accessories (sold separately).
