Cable Matters Launches USB-C HDMI 2.1 Adapter Supporting 8K Resolution Video

Cable Matters, a supplier of connectivity solutions, launched one of the first USB-C video adapters on the market to support the 8K resolution as specified in HDMI 2.1. The new Cable Matters 48Gbps USB-C Video Adapter combines the latest HDMI features with the versatility of the USB-C connector to drive the latest 8K and 4K 120Hz displays. A solution designed for to connect gaming monitors and TVs to laptops, smartphones, tablets, and more, supporting a maximum video resolution of 8K 30Hz with RGB 4:4:4.

This adapter supports USB-C devices with DP Alt Mode support and Thunderbolt 3 port / Thunderbolt 4 ports, and also supports HDR for expanded color range and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) for lag-free gaming, together with surround sound audio. This will be a solution needed for users who want to take advantage of 8K resolution support on a desktop computer with newer Nvidia RTX 2000 series and AMD Radeon RX6000 series graphics cards or a laptop with 11th generation Intel Tiger Lake CPU and Intel Iris Xe graphics.

The new Cable Matters adapter offers a premium construction,  ideal for portability, with a premium braided cable for durability, metal connectors and an aluminum enclosure. The design and small form factor enable it to fit in a laptop or tablet carrying case. Cable Matters also announced a new USB-C Video Cable supporting 8K as specified in HDMI 2.1, perfect for a more permanent installation in a home office or entertainment center.

Both new products utilize the Cayenne family of USB-C video interfaces created by Synaptics. The Cayenne chipset provides advanced video features like HDR, ultra high definition resolutions, and fast refresh rates in a secure, universal, low-cost, and low-power design.
