With a Klippel optimized abaca fiber cone and rubber surround, the newest Bold North Audio 8" subwoofer, the BWF-8001, delivers heavy duty power and robust sound for two-way systems, tower speakers, or high-end home theaters. This latest design from MISCO, the St. Paul, MN-headquartered company, is an 8" (203 mm) stamped frame subwoofer, rated for 150 Watts program power and totally designed and assembled in the US. Another valuable option in the Bold North Audio range for speaker designers.

The new BWF-8001 8" woofer/subwoofer creates clear and natural low-end sound for any home audio system design, including bookshelf two-way systems or high-end home theaters. With an Efficiency Bandwidth Product (EBP - Fs/Qes) of 94, this woofer is ideal for ported systems. This unit is driven by a heavy-duty dual ferrite magnet and an overhung 4-layer coil. The cone is a Klippel optimized Abacá fiber cone with half roll rubber edge surround.

Abacá, for those not familiar, is essentially a banana leaf fiber recognized for its great mechanical strength, resistance to saltwater damage, and long fibre length. It originates mainly from the Philippines (reason why it is also called Manila hemp), but is also grown commercially in countries like Ecuador, and Costa Rica. The stamped steel basket has additional depth below the Conex spider for extra mechanical travel.

This high excursion woofer is rated for 75 watts (IEC - 150 program) at 4 ohms, and 87 dB SPL using a 1.5" voice coil, copper wire on aluminum former, dual ferrite magnet for high Bg and X-mech, and terminated with double lug, quick connect terminals for series or parallel wiring.

As with all Bold North Audio products, like the recently introduced XBL2 6.5-inch woofers, the new BWF-8001 woofer is an accurate, well engineered design that is fully verified using Klippel vibrational test analyses. And while MISCO relies heavily on objective science to lead its design process, all Bold North Drivers are also subjected to evaluation by the company's own team of engineers, musicians, and recording studio veterans - the final judges of when a design is worthy of the Bold North Audio brand.
