During NAMM 2025, beyerdynamic announced its new line of in-ear monitors. Embracing a risky decision to design four application specific products, each one with a different sound signature, the German company believes this new IEMs are the answer to professional needs for stage and studio. Every model is based on the company’s low-distortion TESLA.11 dynamic driver, with a universal compact design optimized for comfort and high sound insulation.

In a crowded product segment, where multiple companies have specialized on meeting the unique needs of each musician, by offering custom molds, a huge variety of driver choices, and multi-driver configurations, plus countless personalization designs, beyerdynamic believes its new line of IEMs offers the ideal balance, by simply adapting the same, single-driver design, to the frequency response required by each specific application and type of music.

Unveiled at NAMM 2025, the new line of in-ear monitors with four different models is simply differentiated by the model numbers, respectively DT 70 IE, DT 71 IE, DT 72 IE, and DT 73 IE. According to the German company, these in-ear monitors all offer uncompromising sound quality and durability, featuring beyerdynamic's cutting-edge TESLA.11 dynamic driver system, which is specified for superior resolution and clarity with minimal distortion (THD of 0.02%). Developed in Germany, beyerdynamic says its high impulse fidelity ensures accurate, detailed sound reproduction, and with a maximum SPL of 137dB, it's one of the loudest, lowest-distortion systems available.

“We’re excited to showcase a range of new products and initiatives that continue to build on our commitment to excellence in studio sound,” says beyerdynamic CEO Andreas Rapp. “From our new in-ear monitor series to hosting live performances and collaborations with renowned artists, we’re proud to demonstrate our latest achievements at the show.”

The four in-ear monitors all have an extended frequency response  - 5Hz to 40kHz - that allowed beyerdynamic to adjust different frequency targets with precision. All models have the same nominal impedance of 16Ω and are all wired. With five different sizes of silicone eartips and three pairs of Comply memory foam eartips included, these four DT IEM models are designed to provide superior comfort, sound insulation and fit, ensuring professionals can rely on them both in the studio and on stage.

The DT 70 IE is targeted for mixing and critical listening, offering a balanced sound signature, with a passive sound insulation of -39dB, ideal for studio professionals and eventually also pleasing music enthusiasts. Its high-quality cable minimizes structure-borne noise, and the gold-plated MMCX connector ensures a stable, long-lasting connection, making the DT 70 IE built for durability in both studio and live settings.

DT 71 IE for drummers and bassists is tailored to enhance low frequencies while ensuring detailed reproduction of cymbals, percussion and bass guitar overtones. Slightly reduced mids provide added clarity and transparency, promoting precise timing and a dynamic playing experience — perfect for drummers and bassists who require the highest quality sound.

The DT 72 IE model is optimized for guitarists and singers, offering a natural sound balance for enhanced clarity, with subtly tuned bass that provides a solid foundation without overwhelming lows, while natural low mids ensure transparency. The design compensates for the “occlusion effect,” preventing muffled sound and delivering a clear, precise listening experience for live performers.

Finally, the DT 73 IE model was optimized for orchestral musicians, pianists, and keyboard players, engineered to meet the nuanced demands of live and studio performances. Its linear sound reproduction between 20Hz and 1kHz ensures an accurate and authentic representation of every note, making it ideal for orchestral musicians striving for tonal precision. The subtle treble boost from 5kHz upwards enhances overtones, allowing pianists and keyboard players to hear intricate harmonic details clearly, all while maintaining a smooth, non-fatiguing sound profile.

Beyerdynamic even created an Application Guide for retailers and customers to understand better the new beyerdynamic IEMs. Although offering different responses and optimizations all four beyerdynamic IEMs retail for $499.99, which eventually allows some users to pick two or three to use in the different situations. According to the company, all will be available in Q2 2025.

Every pair of in-ears comes with a 1.4m cable with MMCX connector and 3.5mm 3-pin plug, a 3.5mm to 1/4” adaptor, the five pairs of silicone eartips and three pairs of memory foam eartips (Comply Tx-500), one pair of wax filters, and a carrying case.

During NAMM 2025, beyerdynamic also highlighted the new DT 1990 PRO MKII (open-back) and DT 1770 PRO MKII (closed-back) studio headphones, which feature the updated TESLA.45 premium drivers and a lowered impedance of 30 ohms, making them compatible with a wider range of devices without compromising audio performance.
