In the run-up to the AES 2022 International Conference on Automotive Audio taking place in Dearborn, Michigan the AES Audio Product Education Institute (APEI) is promoting a special webinar event focused on the future of automotive audio workflows. In this session, Roger Shively will lead a discussion with John Whitecar (DSP Concepts), Evan Bunner, and Matt Marchese (Tymphany) on the evolution of automotive audio systems, technology, and implementations.
Directly from Tymphany labs in San Rafael, the webinar features the Tymphany Automotive Audio Development Environment (AADE). Powered by DSP Concepts' Audio Weaver, the AADE is a unique SUV-sized audio development tool used for creating new acoustic solutions, layouts, and proof of concepts. During the session, the presenters will compare past vs. contemporary workflows and workshop through two workflow scenarios including a live demo of the development environment and how it provides flexible automotive acoustic spaces, allowing a comparison of new speaker design concepts from Tymphany, along with audio signal processing algorithms.
Matt Marchese is Tymphany’s Automotive Business Unit leader for the newly formed vertical within the company, and Evan Bunner is Engineering Services Leader at Tymphany. They will show two different system simulation and implementation examples, detailing voice recognition from multiple sources, telephony, sound zones, microphone performance, array studies, and object-based audio (OBA).
During the webinar, industry veteran John Whitecar will detail how automotive audio systems continue to grow in complexity with an ever growing set of use cases. System architects must now consider not only playback processing, but also telephony, voice control, safety sounds, individual sound zones, and even road noise cancellation. John will cover the requirements in computing resources, audio processing, and the latest platform possibilities. John Whitecar is a world-class automotive audio technology expert with c-suite and VP level engineering experience at Tesla Motors, Ford, Visteon, and Texas Instruments and was recently interviewed for the June 2022 issue of audioXpress.
Following an opportunity for questions from participants, Roger Shively (JJR Acoustics), AES/APEI Automotive Audio pillar chair and Conference Chairman for the AES 2022 International Conference on Automotive Audio will discuss the extensive program already in place for the June in-person event in Detroit, including the sessions and workshops already confirmed for the Audio Product Education Institute sessions, during the three days of the event.
