Austrian Audio Launches MiCreator Studio Recording System

October 9 2023, 05:30
Austrian Audio unveiled its new MiCreator Studio microphone recording system - a unique concept that should help project the company to new markets. The new "ultra-flexible pocket recording system," as it is described, combines a beautiful, retro-style condenser microphone and a USB-C audio interface in a compact, rugged design that can be taken anywhere. This core system can then be complemented with "Satellites" that include the additional MiCreator Satellite and the MiCreator Y-Lav, a lavalier microphone with an headphone output.

The MiCreator Studio system is a very unique concept that expands the Austrian Audio portfolio to appeal to content creators in general and will, no doubt, contribute to build a well-deserved brand notoriety.

First and foremost, the microphone capsule used in the MiCreator Studio and Satellite maintains the top-notch audio quality that Austrian Audio has become known for. Add to this, an audio interface with an additional input for quick-and-easy multi-tracking and optional stereo recording, and intuitive on-board controls in a compact and plug-and-play recording studio that can be taken anywhere.
The MiCreator condenser capsule is able to withstand 130dB of maximum SPL, which makes it a versatile choice for any type of instrument and studio recording. The suspended cardioid capsule ring frame sits on the metal housing that contains the electronics and audio interface, and offers exchangeable and customizable face plates to enhance the retro design even more. On this housing we find two Gain settings, allowing to capture signals that Austrian Audio says are much higher than those allowed by conventional USB microphones. Also in the housing is a knob/jog wheel to control volume and monitoring. The FlexTilt mechanic swivel allows users to adjust the microphone to an ideal position.

Given that there is a built-in, Class compliant USB-C audio interface, users can get latency free direct monitoring from the headphone output. There is a useful hardware mute switch, which can be practical, given that the MiCreator Studio can be used as a desktop microphone for web streaming, podcasting, etc. The LED bar in the front provides a helpful visual feedback of controls.
But because Austrian Audio designed the MiCreator Studio as system, there is also a second input for connecting a second device, which will be a MiCreator Satellite, the MiCreator Y-Lav, or an instrument input. And that is the reason why there are two headphone outputs. The MiCreator was designed to allow easy collaboration with a fellow announcer or musician, without the need for further equipment.
Included in the generous MiCreator packages are a number of cables and adaptors, including link cables and an instrument cable. When the MiCreator Studio is used in combination with the MiCreator Satellite, the system can be used for true stereo recordings and Austrian Audio even designed a MiCreator Minibar for that purpose. The MiCreator Y-Lav is an omnidirectional lavalier that comes with a 2m cable ending in compact adaptor that includes a 3.5mm headphone output.

"Many times a quick riff, a scratch vocal, or unplanned content creation is the best performance, so why not capture everything with studio quality sound," says Martin Seidl, CEO of Austrian Audio. "Whether you’re at home or on the go, MiCreator Studio always keeps Austrian Audio recording quality within reach."

Bryan Bradley, President of Group One Limited, Austrian Audio’s US distributor, adds: "This is an exciting new direction for Austrian Audio and we’re excited to put this high-quality mic into the hands of musicians, songwriters, and content creators, making it easier for them to record premium audio whenever and wherever they feel inspired."
The MiCreator Studio is priced at 199 USD/EUR MSRP, the MiCreator Satellite retails for 99 USD/EUR, and the MiCreator Y-Lav sells for 49 USD/EUR. All Austrian Audio products are available in online and brick-and-mortar stores throughout the US. Current and interested Austrian Audio retailers in the US should contact Michael Huckler at Group One, the US distributor.

Austrian Audio opened its doors in 2017 following the closure of the AKG offices in Vienna and set out to create something new, challenging, and respectful to its heritage. The new company started with a core team of previous AKG personnel from management, acoustics, electronics, test and measurement, mechanical design, RF/wireless and software/firmware, bringing 350 years of cumulative engineering experience to the new company.
