Audio-Technica Introduces AT2040 Hypercardioid Dynamic Microphone

August 2 2021, 00:25
Audio-Technica launched its new AT2040 Hypercardioid Dynamic Podcast Microphone. The new microphone takes inspiration from Audio-Technica’s acclaimed BP40 Large-Diaphragm Dynamic Broadcast Microphone, and focuses on delivering the right features for vocal reproduction at an affordable price point, aiming at podcasters and content creators in general. The rugged AT2040 uses it's own dynamic hypercardioid capsule to minimize room noise, and features an internal shock mount and pop filter.

Th AT2040 microphone features a stylish yet rugged all-metal construction, and excels at isolated/up-close vocal reproduction and rejection of unwanted room noise due to its tight hypercardioid polar pattern. This makes it a ready-to-use solution for home use and for working in less-than ideal acoustic environments. Not only for podcasting, but also for other content creation setups, such as live streaming, gaming, or doing voice-over work. The design also makes it easy to record single or dual vocals in the same room, so even when using two mics to record two-person conversations and interviews it will provide great audio pickup for professional and non-trained voices.

"The AT2040 provides smooth, warm, natural sound, while the mic’s multistage windscreen combines a non-woven filter with foam mesh to provide superior internal pop filtering, and its specially-designed integrated shock mount prevents unwanted noise by attenuating vibration from a boom arm or mic stand," Audio-Technica explains.

The AT2040 uses a standard XLR connector to be used with any conventional analog microphone input, providing versatile use with everything from USB audio interfaces to professional mixing consoles. The microphone comes standard with a pivoting stand mount, 5/8"-27 to 3/8"-16 threaded adapter, and a soft protective pouch.

“Audio-Technica microphones have been embraced by streamers, YouTubers and other content creators in recent years, but previously we didn’t offer a dynamic hypercardioid microphone so finely-tuned to the needs of podcasters. We are proud to offer the AT2040, with its smooth vocal reproduction and focused pickup that will help take your podcast to the next level,” remarks Gary Boss, Audio-Technica U.S. Marketing Director.

The AT2040 Hypercardioid Dynamic Podcast Microphone is now available with a US MAP pricing of $99.00.
