The FS5 soundbar draws upon Atlantic Technology’s long expertise in home theater speaker acoustics. Each of the three independent speaker systems contains two 4.5-inch CPP woofers, an ultra-wide dispersion 3/4-inch silk dome tweeter, and an audiophile-grade crossover network. The tweeters are mounted high between the woofers in a low-diffraction baffle to ensure dialog intelligibility. The sound is smooth, vibrant and spacious, with the unmistakable detail and effortless quality typical of the company’s loudspeakers. With two woofers for each channel, bass response extends down to 80Hz, which more than deep enough that any accompanying subwoofer to be totally non-localizable.
The FS5 attractive piano-gloss cabinet is 50 inches wide but only 3 inches deep so it can be wall-mounted using built-in keyhole brackets, placed on a shelf or used with Atlantic’s special Shelf-2405, which provides a shelf attached directly to the flat screen TV itself. The Atlantic Technology FS5 Front Stage Loudspeaker is now available with an MSRP of $1,199.
From its inception in 1989, Atlantic Technology’s has been producing home entertainment products, specializing in high-performance loudspeaker systems for music, home theater, and custom audio/video installation at the best value. Recently, Atlantic Technology has partnered with Andover Audio, an advanced technology original equipment developer (fifth generation Henry Kloss company), and Frontier Silicon Limited, to create an innovative wireless ecosystem of products. The company is now expanding its range of home-theater systems with multi-unit interconnectivity, GoogleCast and streaming services integration, with support for both WiFi and Bluetooth, available in multiple driver arrays with internal subwoofers, using solid, real wood cabinet with premium finishes.
Atlantic Technology also offers its FS3 Front Stage Loudspeaker, combining three side-by-side front-channel speakers in a 42-inch long black enclosure, and the LCR3 single-channel version using the same design ‘DNA’ for use as stereo speakers or theater front or surround channels. The LCR3 is designed for vertical or horizontal wall mounting, with speaker stands, or shelf placement. All Atlantic Technology’s speakers are timbre matched in order to provide a smooth coherent soundfield with all channels.
Each channel of Atlantic Technology FS3 and LCR3 uses two long-throw 3½-inch CPP (Composite Polypropylene/Paper) woofers and a single ¾-inch silk-dome tweeter. The woofers’ CPP cones combine the fast transient response of polypropylene with the inherent self-damping traits of cellulose. This provides exceptional linear response while eliminating any tendency toward harshness. In the audible range above the 3,500 Hz crossover circuit, the small but powerful ¾-inch tweeter exhibits smooth response and broad upper-octave dispersion compared to more typical 1-inch tweeters.
In addition to the performance derived from the drivers and crossover, the front panel and grille assembly provide a flat speaker front with no bumps or barriers to generate diffraction adjacent to the woofers and tweeter. The tweeter is also mounted slightly off the axis of the woofers to reduce overlap interference. All these elements combine to give the speakers excellent response and dispersion characteristics with a broad listening area, and no hot spots or dead zones.
The Atlantic Technology FS3 is now available in gloss black finish with a suggested retail price of $650. The LCR3 is available in gloss black or gloss white finish with a suggested retail price of $275 each.
