Alango Unveils Hearing Augmentation Technology on Snapdragon S7 at CES 2025

December 20 2024, 01:10
Hearables and hearing augmentation applications are major trends for consumer electronics, and at CES 2025 Alango Technologies will reveal what the company describes as "a transformative breakthrough". As a member of the Qualcomm Voice and Music Extension Program, Alango will be one of the first companies to unveil a complete hearing augmentation solution running on Qualcomm Technologies' advanced Snapdragon S7 Sound platform. This collaboration allows Alango to bring a ready-to-market solution for personalized audio in true wireless earbuds.

Alango, in collaboration with Qualcomm aims to deliver a ready to deploy reference design that will establish a new standard for True Wireless Stereo, combining the features of earbuds and hearing aids. This approach simplifies development, reducing both the time and cost required for device manufacturers to bring these solutions to end-users. Beyond hearing augmentation, Alango has integrated and optimized all its personalized voice communication and audio solutions onto the Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform.

Visitors at CES 2025 can experience Alango's ultra-low latency hearing augmentation technology in action, running on the Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 earbud reference design. The prototype earbuds running Alango hearing augmentation technology demonstrate compensation for high-frequency and flat hearing loss with personalized amplification, adjustable tone control, noise suppression, and directionality. Its directionality feature, powered by a beamforming dual microphone array, enables users to focus on specific sound sources, significantly enhancing face-to-face conversations.

According to the World Health Organization, hearing loss currently affects more than 1.5 billion people worldwide, of whom 430 million have moderate or higher levels of hearing loss. However, of those who could benefit from a hearing aid, only 17% use one. This huge underserved market stands to benefit greatly from a consumer electronics-based solution.

We’re thrilled to collaborate with Qualcomm Technologies to deliver customers a ready-to-use solution for seamless integration into their products," says Alexander Goldin, founder and CEO of Alango Technologies. "The Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform combines fast, superior wireless connectivity with powerful DSP capabilities and exceptional customization options, making it an excellent foundation for implementing Alango’s advanced technologies."

"As a member of the Qualcomm Voice and Music Extension Program, we have worked closely with Alango to enable their hearing augmentation and personalization technologies on the Snapdragon S7 Sound Platform," adds Dino Bekis, VP & GM of Wearables & Mixed Signal Solutions at Qualcomm Technologies. "The S7 platform delivers a significant step-function improvement to on-device AI capabilities. Coupled with low-latency DSPs and powerful compute capability, it enables your earbuds to deliver a much more responsive and personalized experience, bringing sharp clarity to the world around you. We are excited to work with Extension Program members like Alango to enable a whole new generation of audio experiences on true wireless earbuds."

At CES 2025 Alango will present also its latest solutions for automotive ambient sound acquisition, achieved without external microphones, siren detection, voice clarity enhancement for TWS earbuds and headphones, and dynamic enhancement of music perception. Other demonstrations include dialog intelligibility improvement for movies and TV programs, adaptive volume and EQ adjustments for any environment, and sound personalization. These solutions are running on various supported platforms.

Alango's demonstration suite at CES 2025 will be located at the Venetian. Attendees interested to experience Alango's groundbreaking DSP technology integrated into the Snapdragon S7 Sound Platform, and experience the live demos for the multiple applications are encouraged to schedule a meeting by email ces@alango.com.
