Alango's VoiceDefender On New Bang & Olufsen Beocom Portal Headphones Passes TEAMS Certification

April 26 2023, 10:10
Alango Technologies, a leading developer and provider of signal processing and voice enhancement technologies, announced that its VoiceDefender DSP technology has passed the TEAMS certification on the all-new Bang & Olufsen Beocom Portal headphones. The hardware and software technology combination allowed rapid development of full-featured, high-performance, headphone with pristine call quality in a boomless headphone design.

VoiceDefender uses 4 microphones, two on each side, to provide unprecedented noise reduction without compromising the original voice quality. This has been proven in a number of real-world scenarios, from a quiet office to a busy street to a crowded restaurant. This new design from the Danish luxury brand - based on the Beoplay Portal gaming headphones introduced in 2022 - was made for hybrid working, uses large 40mm drivers, and includes 8 MEMS microphones, four per side. Two are dedicated only to voice and noise reduction, and the other two per side are exclusive for ANC, so that the headphones don't compromise in any of its intended features.

The Beocom Portal combines an ergonomic and comfortable design, with state-of-the-art technologies, virtual boom arm and advanced active noise cancelling. Built for comfort, these headphones produce high-fidelity sound and are perfect for professional use. From the use of soft memory foam ear cushions and an ergonomic proven design with optimal fit, everything combines to provide maximum efficiency when doing a video conference, attending companies meetings from a public shared space, or listening to immersive music while traveling.

The premium Bluetooth 5.1 headphones are replete with impressive features including voice assistant integration and low latency streaming thanks to AAC and aptX Adaptive codecs, multipoint connection, Google Fast Pair, Microsoft Swift Pair and MFi support. Thanks to the technology embedded in the Beoplay Portal, these headphones also support Dolby Atmos for headphones when connected over USB. The battery was also improved to provide up to 23 hours of calls and up to 47 hours with ANC when listening to music. And complementing the ANC performance, Alango's VoiceDefender provides pristine call quality even in noisy environments allowing users to work from an office desk, home or traveling.

With VoiceDefender, users can enjoy hands-free communication that's protected from ambient noise through the use of microphone beamforming on four signals with a combination of end-fire and broadside beamforming. This complete solution includes echo cancellation, multi-microphone noise suppression, wind noise reduction, equalization, and gain management technologies.

"Boom microphones are great, but not always suitable for every headphone design," says Dr. Alexander Goldin, CEO of Alango Technologies. "VoiceDefender provides clear voice transmission for boomless headphone designs and we're thrilled it has been included in the latest Beocom line by Bang & Olufsen and passed the TEAMS certification."
