Universal Audio Releases UAD Software v8.3 Featuring AKG Spring Reverb, Ampeg SVT Bass Amp and Tube-Tech EQ Plug-Ins

Universal Audio announced the release of UAD Software V. 8.3, a new software for UAD-2 DSP Accelerators and Apollo interfaces, featuring an exclusively licensed and endorsed plug-in version of AKG’s legendary spring reverb, BICHA 20, as well as two Ampeg SVT bass amplifier plug-ins from Brainworx and the Tube-Tech EQ Plug-In Collection from Softube.

Powered by Universal Audio’s popular UAD-2 DSP Accelerator hardware and Apollo Thunderbolt audio interfaces, UAD Powered Plug-Ins offer authentic analog hardware emulations and deliver rich, analog sound quality that would be difficult or impossible to achieve with native recording systems.

AKG Spring Reverb
Introduced in the late 1960s, the AKG BICHA 20 spring reverb was a high-water mark for AKG’s esteemed engineers. An ingenious assembly of mechanical and electronic componentry, the BICHA 20 offered the glorious depth and color of spring reverb without any of the limitations.

The AKG BICHA 20 Spring Reverb plug-in for UAD-2 hardware and Apollo interfaces is exclusively endorsed by AKG Acoustics, Austria. Unlike other spring reverb emulations, Universal Audio’s hybrid delay network/convolution design provides the only plug-in representation of this mechanically controllable, acoustic ambience system. To that end, UA obsessively emulated a “golden unit” BICHA 20 from legendary producer, Jon Brion.

The UAD model features the BICHA 20’s famous dual tank TTL (Torsion Transmission Line) reverb unit and R20 Decay remote control, with original dual spring tank configuration, plus “Mk II” stereoized A/B Tank Select, Direct signal defeat, and BICHA 10 Tone controls. “Digital Only” features include Decay, Volume and Pan, Link, Dry/Wet blend, Predelay, and Low Cut Filter.

In addition, the AKG BICHA 20 plug-in features presets from famous AKG BICHA 20 users, including Patrick Carney (Black Keys), Vance Powell (Jack White), Jacquire King (Kings of Leon), and more.

Ampeg SVT-VR Bass Amplifier and Ampeg SVT-3 Pro Bass Amplifier
Developed by Brainworx, the Ampeg SVT-VR and SVT-3 Pro bass amplifier plug-ins offer two flavors of the legendary SVT recipe exclusively for UAD-2 hardware and Apollo interfaces.

The Ampeg SVT-VR Bass Amplifier plug-in is an exacting emulation of the legendary, 300-W, all-tube behemoth used by everyone from Bootsy Collins to the late Chris Squire of Yes, while the Ampeg SVT-3 Pro Bass Amplifier plug-in models the tube/solid-state design and extended tone shaping of the rack mount modern classic.

Also available as the Ampeg Bass Amplifier Plug-In Bundle for $229, each of these emulations feature modern workflow enhancements such as Recording Chain presets which feature various cabinet/mic/preamp selections, and more.

The two expertly modeled versions of the legendary SVT amps from Ampeg, include an onboard FX Rack and recording chains, allowing, among other things to Re-Amp previously recorded DI bass tracks to add warmth and depth. Both emulations feel like a real amp when played through Apollo’s Realtime UAD Processing

Tube-Tech EQ Plug-In Collection
Developed by Softube, the Tube-Tech EQ Plug-In Collection features two state-of-the-art emulations of Tube-Tech’s high-end EQs. The PE 1C Program Equalizer plug-in is based on the classic Pultec EQP-1A Program EQ, and provides wide, smooth curves for use on nearly any source. The ME 1B Mid Equalizer plug-in allows for extensive sculpting of midrange frequencies and is based on the legendary Pultec MEQ-5 Mid-Range EQ.

Also available is the Tube-Tech Bundle for $399, which features the Tube-Tech EQ Plug-In Collection paired with Tube-Tech’s flagship compressor, the CL 1B Compressor plug-in.
