September 5 2014, 07:34
IFA 2014, Berlin (5-10 September). Every year, at the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin, the industry gains valuable perspectives on the newest consumer electronics technologies, game-changing trends and the latest insights on market development. The future of the audio market is the focus of one of the IFA International Keynotes this year. Sennheiser’s CEOs Daniel and Andreas Sennheiser are talking about ”Shaping the Future of Audio“ and offer views on what it takes to stay ahead.

Sennheiser’s IFA 2014 booth is all about innovation too, as the audio specialist showcases the newest member of its successful and expanding MOMENTUM family, as well as an all-new lifestyle headphone range, the URBANITE range, and their new CX earphone series. At the booth, visitors have the opportunity to try out “Mogees”, an innovative device which transforms any touchable object into a unique musical instrument.

At the annual IFA International Keynotes, representatives of the industry’s leading companies provide an overview of the latest developments in the consumer electronics and home appliances market. This year, joint CEOs Daniel and Dr. Andreas Sennheiser will offer unique insights into a company that continues to reinvent itself to let a culture of innovation flourish.

Sennheiser’s achievements in the high-end audio sector with iconic products such as the HD 800 and IE 800 as well as its continual advancements in the field of wireless audio solutions demonstrate the company’s continued ability to lead through innovation. Yet this is no longer enough: today it is necessary to combine technical achievement with products that thrill and excite, tapping into as yet unrecognized desires. This keynote reveals how the family-run company continues to look forward, anticipating what consumers want, while redefining what is possible.

New Products at the Sennheiser Booth
The Sennheiser booth at the IFA 2014 show is about innovative new products that perfectly meet the needs of specific target groups. Focusing on the evolution of Sennheiser’s lifestyle headphones, the audio specialist is unveiling the new CX earphone series, first introduced to the press during the IFA Innovations Media Briefings in July.

An all-new acoustic design built around Sennheiser’s proprietary driver technology ensures that the CX 1.00, CX 2.00, CX 3.00 and CX 5.00 deliver excellent clarity across the frequency range. “As IFA is the world’s leading fair for consumer electronics, it provides an ideal opportunity for us to introduce the innovative new products that will let Sennheiser continue to deliver outstanding sound experiences to our customers and distribution partners,” said Daniel Sennheiser.

This spirit of innovation is also embodied by Mogees, a brand-new device which to be showcased at Sennheiser’s IFA booth. Invented by Bruno Zamborlin, an ambassador of Sennheiser’s social video project ‘What’s your MOMENTUM?’, Mogees transforms any touchable object into a unique, powerful musical instrument. The system is a combination of a vibration sensor and a mobile app that detects and analyses the acoustic properties of physical objects and modifies them so as to make musical. Conor Barry, Event Producer at Mogees, will be presenting the device at the Sennheiser IFA booth from September 5th to September 9th, inviting visitors to make music with everyday objects.

New MOMENTUM In-Ear
Expanding Sennheiser’s flagship MOMENTUM range are new premium ear-canal phones. Crafted from the highest quality materials, the MOMENTUM In-Ear features an all-new acoustic design in a product that is built to last. On the outside, the MOMENTUM In-Ear features an eye-catching design using premium stainless steel components, mirror chrome detailing and dual-tone elliptical cable to ensure a tangle-free listening experience.

Within, Sennheiser says the ear-canal phones feature newly developed proprietary transducer technology which “carefully replicates the sound signature that characterizes the MOMENTUM range: a powerful bass response, detailed vocal projection and a great sound stage.”

A perfect fit in the ear canals is ensured through a set of ear adapters in several sizes that provide attenuation from ambient noise. Using tough impact-resistant polycarbonate and stainless steel for the MOMENTUM In-Ear, Sennheiser has developed very durable ear-canal phones – ensuring that the ultra-portable design can go anywhere. Peace of mind is also included with a premium carrying case for safe storage and a 2-year warranty.

The MOMENTUM In-Ear features a three-button in-line remote with an integrated mic for controlling music and taking calls. It will be available from September 2014 in two variants that are optimized for either Apple iOS or Android and Windows smart devices such as Samsung Galaxy models.

New URBANITE headphones
The highlight at the IFA 2014 show, is Sennheiser’s new URBANITE headphone range, a new urban style, bringing the bass for an intense club experience on the move. The new mobile headphone range includes the on-ear URBANITE and over-ear URBANITE XL models and both deliver massive bass but with Sennheiser’s audio expertise ensuring clarity throughout the entire frequency range. All models have integrated in line remote control and microphone for taking calls and controlling music on smartphones and tablets, with dedicated versions for either Apple iOS devices, or for Windows or Android-driven devices.

“Sennheiser URBANITE headphones are for the generation of Millennials who know more and demand more. They love their tunes heavy and love to look good, but are smart consumers who won´t compromise on quality. They want bass but want it done right. The Sennheiser URBANITE is answering these demands,” said Tim Voelker, Director Sales & Marketing Consumer, Sennheiser Communications A/S.

“With the Sennheiser URBANITE series we’ve created a range of headphones that are incredibly robust, using durable high quality materials and metal parts that – alongside the sound – set them apart from other fashionable headphones. With a unique folding mechanism that makes them easily portable, the Sennheiser URBANITE headphones are truly ready for life on the streets,” said Dr. Christian Ern, Director Product Management Consumer, Sennheiser Communications A/S.

A range of color choices includes black and denim across all models (both Apple and Samsung), with the iOS URBANITE additionally available in sand, nation and plum and iOS URBANITE XL also available in sand, nation and olive. The stainless-steel hinges and aluminum sliders combine with the color-coordinated fabric-wrapped headband, ensuring these headphones are styled to last. The soft ear pads ensure greater comfort for longer periods of time and insulation from external noise. The larger ear-pads on the Sennheiser URBANITE XL model offers even greater levels of comfort. All URBANITE headphones are supplied with a soft pouch for safe storage, and also come with a 2-year international warranty. Urbanite is available now at select retailers; URBANITE XL will be available in Q4.
