At the InfoComm 2015 show in Orlando, FL, beyerdynamic is launching a newly developed vertical array microphone. Due to the vertical array, a horizontal corridor characteristic is created (horizontally cardioid, vertically lobar). This gives the speaker even more freedom of movement to the left and right. It is also possible for two participants to share one single microphone (without the need to move it from its position) or to record several speakers during a video conference. The gain before feedback is also optimized for ceiling systems due to the vertical lobar polar pattern.
The Revoluto principle is based on the patented microphone array technology, where microphone capsules are arranged in a row. Compared to gooseneck microphones this creates a much greater coverage area optimized for voice. In most applications where the horizontal Revolutos are used, speakers tend to completely forget there is a microphone and are able to act more naturally - and without the temptation to interfere with the microphone itself, something very common with gooseneck solutions. Now, the German brand will be able to complement those solutions with the new Revoluto Vertical Microphone-Array.
With a vertical array microphone, the speaker can be close to the microphone or further away with minimal sound fluctuations resulting from the different speech distances. The vertical arrangement of the Revoluto array also allows maximum freedom of movement to the right and left without volume fading, while the up and down attenuation limits the recording of signals and noises from the ceiling and table.
Another important characteristic of the Revoluto microphones is the neutral frequency response within the wide capture area, allowing for two people to share one microphone, while both staying free to view and work on their own laptops. This is ideal in situations where the same microphone can be used by several speakers, such as during a video conferencing.
The new Revoluto microphones of the Classis RM 30/31 series are offered as installed sound microphones and microphone units complementing the existing Orbis conference system. The microphones are produced in Germany and have already been awarded with a RedDot Design Award 2015.
Both variants make optimum use of the Revoluto technology and products with horizontal or vertical array can be used depending on the request for design, room acoustics and PA system. In this way different situations and customer requests can be met.
