Earthworks Now Shipping 30-kHz Boundary Microphones
April 24 2015, 03:05
The new Earthworks IMB & IMBL Boundary Layer Microphones are now shipping. A microphone solution designed for permanent installations when a low profile is of the utmost importance, the new IMB and IMBL range feature a flat frequency response and patented True Semisphere polar pattern to ensure intelligibility throughout the room without a loss of high frequencies.
The new Earthworks IMB and IMBL Boundary Installation Microphones, designed for permanent installation, are now shipping. Featuring revolutionary audio and mechanical design innovations, the phantom-powered IMB and IMBL Boundary Microphones offer exceptional speech intelligibility and have a discreet appearance for table and ceiling installations. All models feature radio frequency (RF) shielding to prevent interference from cell phones and other electronic devices.
The IMB microphones are only 1.44" (3.6 cm) in diameter and the IMBL models have a 1.59" (4 cm) diameter. The IMBL30 is available in a black, white, or silver finish and features the all new LumiComm Touch Ring, which consists of a dual-color LED light ring and a touch sensor output, providing integrators complete freedom to assign function and LED color with a media control system.
Featuring a 60-Hz-to-30-kHz (±2 dB) frequency response, the IMB boundary microphones are coupled with a True Semisphere polar pattern, which features a near-perfect frequency response at 0°, 45°, and 90° and delivers exceptional clarity and intelligibility for fixed installations.
The IMB and IMBL Boundary Microphones have a max acoustic input of 136 dB SPL and sensitivity of 70 mV/Pa. This near-perfect polar response and high sensitivity allow a sound contractor to install fewer IMB microphones and cover the room with full-frequency response.
