
Consumer Technology Association Announces CES 2019 Best of Innovation Awards Honorees
The CES Innovation Awards is an annual competition honoring outstanding design and engineering in consumer technology products. As in previous years, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) announced the CES 2019 Innovation Honorees, including those products recognized as Best of Innovation Honorees, during the annual CES Unveiled event in New York. This year's nominees have a strong focus on sustainable and eco-friendly concepts. Strategy Analytics Updates Global Smart Speaker Report
Strategy Analytics just announced its Global Smart Speaker Q3 2018 market update, detailing vendor, shipments and installed base market share for the category by region. According to the market research firm, global smart speaker shipments grew nearly 200% year-over-year in Q3 2018 reaching 22.7 million units in the quarter. Amazon remained the top ranked smart speaker brand in the world, followed by Google and the Chinese trio of Alibaba, Baidu and Xiaomi who are all vying for control of their fast growing domestic market.

MSE Audio, the parent company of SoundTube Entertainment, Soundsphere, dARTS, Phase Technology, Induction Dynamics, SolidDrive and Rockustics, announced the availability of its latest SoundTube Entertainment STNet IPD-SM52-EZ and IPD-SM82-EZ-II speakers, designed to bring Dante-enabled capabilities outdoors. Chord Electronics Unveils ULTIMA Next-Generation Mono Power Amplifier and Preamplifier
With its 30th-anniversary year fast approaching, British manufacturer Chord Electronics has launched ULTIMA, a new state-of-the-art flagship amplifier featuring John Franks’ latest circuit topology, the first all-new design in three decades. The company introduces the ULTIMA mono amplifier and the matching preamp as "the ultimate expression of the finest high-performance, ultra-fast, ultra-high-power amplifier technology available today." The ULTIMA set (pre and 2x mono power amps) is available for £90,000 (approx. $116,000 USD).

Danish Industry Recognizes Pascal’s Success with Initiative Award 2018

14 Industry Leaders Inducted into Consumer Technology Association's CT Hall of Fame 2018
The Consumer Technology Association (CTA), inducted 14 visionaries into the Consumer Technology (CT) Hall of Fame at its annual awards dinner, held November 7, at Capitale in New York City. CTA created the Hall of Fame in 2000 to honor consumer technology industry pioneers and entrepreneurs. This year’s inductees included John Briesch, who led Sony's launch of the CD; Edgar Villchur, inventor of the acoustic suspension speaker and independent suspension turntable and co-founder of Acoustic Research; and Kathy Gornik and Jim Thiel, founders of Thiel Audio; among others.

Foxconn, Innovo Audio Designs, and System Audio Join Wireless Speaker and Audio Association
The Wireless Speaker and Audio Association (WiSA), an industry group comprised of over 40 leading brands including founding member Summit Wireless Technologies, announced Foxconn Technology Group, Innovo Audio Designs and System Audio as its newest members. Sonos continues to expand its lifestyle and brand-awareness global marketing strategy by establishing a collaboration with Danish design brand HAY. The collaboration has resulted in the announcement of five exclusive Sonos One colorways already available for purchase. According to Sonos, the new series “perfectly blends modern design and a great sound experience for any home.” It also refreshes the original Sonos One model launched a year ago, and recently updated to add AirPlay 2 and Siri support, adding to the Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant voice control options.

Zoom Introduces Q2n-4K Handy Video Recorder: The 4K Camera for Musicians
Zoom Corporation introduced a new evolution in its line of handy cameras, the Zoom Q2n-4K. It promises the same audio quality with high-quality microphones, recording up to 24-bit/96kHz and new, advanced video quality. The new camera adds 4K UHD capability, high dynamic range (HDR) technology, 12 specialized scene settings, and a new design optimized for musicians to capture performances, practices and live streams, leveraging a new 150-degree wide angle lens.

Studio Technologies Expands Audio-over-Ethernet Networking Options with New Dante and SMPTE ST 2110 Interfaces
Studio Technologies growing line of audio-over-Ethernet products is receiving wide recognition and reflects the growing adoption of audio networking solutions and a changing media infrastructure. The Illinois-based manufacturer introduced two new audio interfaces for applications that use the SMPTE ST 2110 suite of standards – the Model 5512 Audio Interface and the Model 5518 Mic/Line Interface. The company also recently launched the Model 48D Dante Bridge which offers new LAN interconnectivity options for Dante applications.
