Harman Professional Solutions, announced the JBL VTX A8 dual 8” line array loudspeaker and companion B18 single 18” subwoofer, which bring JBL Professional’s flagship VTX A Series technology to compact solutions for small- to mid-size rental and installed applications. The two new versatile, small-format components, expand the JBL VTX family of sound reinforcement systems, with a powerful line array option with four 3.5” midrange drivers and two 2” high-frequency drivers in a single low-profile cabinet, while the VTX B18 extends the low frequency response below 30HZ.

During the InfoComm 2018 show, in Las Vegas, Bose Professional broadened its ControlSpace commercial sound processors line with six new DSP models and three attractive digital wall controllers. At the show, Bose Professional also launched the Business Music System Designer (BMSD), a new online interactive design tool to aid audio integrators in specifying the right Bose Professional sound products in commercial audio applications.

Sonos Announces Sonos Beam Smart Soundbar for TV and Music

During a special event in San Francisco Sonos unveiled Sonos Beam, a new compact smart soundbar with support for 80+ music services, as well as support for Amazon Alexa at launch (with multiple voice assistants to come over time). With Beam, Sonos combined three products into one – a smart speaker, a powerful soundbar, and a music and streaming center for the living room. Beam connects to the Sonos home sound system in multi-room set-ups. The Sonos Beam should be available from July 17 at $399 US, already supporting Apple AirPlay 2.

Dutch pro audio specialists Alcons Audio have announced the premiere of its VR5 mini versatile monitor system, designed as near-field sound reinforcement system for fixed and portable applications. The VR5 is the first pro-audio system to feature the patent-pending Alcons waveguide technology, to fully control the vertical dispersion of the pro-ribbon mid-high frequency transducer. The system was launched at InfoComm 2018, Las Vegas NV, as part of the Alcons Pro-Ribbon Immersive Experience displayed on the Alcons booth.
