The Wireless Speaker and Audio Association (WiSA), an industry group comprised of over 40 leading brands including founding member Summit Wireless Technologies, announced Foxconn Technology Group, Innovo Audio Designs and System Audio as its newest members. The strong and growing list of WiSA members is largely driven by the Association’s WiSA Ready platform and its recently revitalized leadership. These important new members will certainly help further the adoption and availability of immersive home audio for consumers around the globe.

As a multinational electronics contract manufacturing giant, Foxconn is known for joint-design, joint-development, manufacturing, assembly and after-sales services to the worldwide consumer electronics industry. With annual revenue in excess of $153 billion and more than 800,000 employees worldwide, Foxconn will help WiSA members deliver a new generation of WiSA products. The addition of Foxconn further expands WiSA’s footprint in the Asia-based manufacturing industry with Eastech, Hansong and GGEC also serving as members.

Specializing in the creation of innovative consumer products, Innovo Audio Designs provides services from ideation, design, manufacturing, marketing, and sales to encompass the complete product development solution. System Audio is a multi-award-winning loudspeaker brand that was established in Denmark in 1984. The brand’s speakers are well-known for their simple Scandinavian design, build quality and sound. System Audio values tradition and craftmanship as well as modern innovative technologies. Its vision is to bring music and movie lovers closer to the artists and away from technological complexity.

As WiSA members, these companies will have access to the WiSA specification, technical support, testing protocols and additional partners to bring interoperable, wireless home theater products to market.

“Our newest members bring meaningful experience, versatility and scalability to our member roster,” says Tony Ostrom, president of WiSA. “Given our explosive member growth this year, we have gained critical mass and are eager to assist our members in launching a broad range of innovative products that support a global movement in support of wireless audio. The recent momentum is also a testament to the success of our WiSA Ready certification.”

The WiSA Association and its members are committed to revolutionizing the home entertainment experience by delivering immersive, uncompressed, high-definition, multichannel sound through the universal standards established and certified by the WiSA Association.

In support of its mission, the Association recently launched the new WiSA Ready certification, which clearly identifies entertainment sources – such as TVs, gaming systems or computers – that are equipped to deliver up to eight channels of high-definition wireless audio to WiSA Certified speakers when connected with a WiSA USB transmitter. This new program simplifies consumer set-up and reduces costs by replacing AV receivers with a low-cost USB accessory.
