Nagaoka Unveils MP-700 Moving Permalloy Cartridge

Unveiled ahead of its official launch at High End Munich 2025, the new Nagaoka MP-700 is now the top-of-the-line model in the brand’s MP Series. A renowned audio equipment manufacturer from Japan, with 85 years of history, Nagakoa’s phonograph cartridges are used by many renowned companies as original installed equipment and under private label. The new MP-700 Moving Permalloy (MP) cartridge will be available in the standard MP-700 and a MP-700H premium version.

Another week and another turntable from Pro-Ject Audio Systems is announced. The Austrian company - the largest producer of turntables in the world - has now announced The Classic Reference turntable, which it describes as a "supremely upgraded Classic EVO" or "an enhanced version of the VPO 175 limited edition turntable". The Classic Reference is said to merge "aesthetic appeal" with the latest and greatest hi-fi implements by Pro-Ject, available in black and chrome or brass and acacia wood.

Another week and another Pro-Ject turntable. Following the surprising XA B and the Debut PRO B, the Austrian manufacturer now announced the latest addition to the Debut Series, the Debut EVO 2. Advancing the design of its predecessor, the new Debut EVO 2 now uses the same tonearm bearing block and record platter as the just announced Debut PRO B. By moving away from the steel platter, it welcomes moving coil cartridges as one of many enhancements. The incorporation of the Pick it MM EVO phono cartridge and improved motor isolation are other highlights.

Pro-Ject Audio Systems enhanced the design of its very well-received Debut PRO belt drive turntable and now announced the new Debut PRO B. As it recently did in the new XA B True Balanced Turntable, the new Debut PRO B turntable gets a balanced mini XLR output. In order to offer what the Austrian company calls a True Balanced experience, the new turntable also receives the Pick it PRO Balanced moving magnet phono cartridge, which is the first of its kind.
